Widnes’ cruel luck with injuries struck again after Hep Cahill was ruled out for the season.
The influential forward suffered an Achilles injury in their recent defeat to Wakefield, and scans have confirmed the damage will keep him out for the remainder of 2018.
Cahill, 31, has been one of the clubs most dependable players for years, regularly providing more tackles and carries than the majority of his teammates.
However, he will now be unavailable to interim head coach Francis Cummins, who is already without several key players.
