Wigan have released a statement detailing the reasons why their pre-season friendly with Workington has been called off.
They said: “Following heavy rain in Cumbria throughout Sunday morning after a lunch time pitch inspection Wigan Warriors pre-season fixture with Workington Town for Paul Prescott’s Testimonial has unfortunately been forced to be called off.
“There was standing water on the Derwent Park pitch and both Club’s were in agreement that the surface was unplayable and with more rain forecast the decision was made to postpone the game.
“There will be an announcement on those that have bought tickets for the game in due course.”
