Wigan Warriors could give more debuts out on Friday

The production line at Wigan Warriors is set to churn out yet more debutants for the club against St Helens on Friday, with injuries and suspensions taking their toll on Shaun Wane’s squad.

With Blake Green and Ryan Hampshire two half-backs already ruled out through injury, youngster Sam Powell may not be fit to make the clash, due to a niggling injury. And Wane admits he feels “inclined” to throw Cumbrian youngster Jamie Doran into the mix, after admitting he may not know his team until Thursday at the earliest.

“Sam’s a tough player, he’d normally put his hand up to train but he’s not doing at the minute,” Wane admitted.

“We’ll see how he is after Thursday’s session. If he can’t play, I might give out a debut to Jamie Doran, which I’m inclined to do. He’s been with us four years, he scored the winning try for the Under-19s at the weekend and he can play – he’s a good player.

“I may give a couple of debuts out, we’ll see how we go. The fact is, I don’t know what my team is at the minute – and I won’t know until Thursday afternoon.”
