A HAT-TRICK of tries from in-form centre Molly Jones, plus two each from Isabel Rowe and Anna Davies, set Wigan on the road to another big win as their unbeaten start to the season continues.

Huddersfield were no match for a much-changed Wigan side, who were without players such as Ellise Derbyshire, Jenna Foubister, Mary Coleman and Vicky Molyneux.

The hosts dominate from the start and a Huddersfield mistake from kick-off perhaps indicated how tough the next 80 minutes would be for them.

And it proved to be the case as Tiana Power, Jones and Kaitlin Hilton all crossed within the opening quarter to set the tone for what was to come.

Power crossed in the corner after just four minutes off the back of a penalty, before Molly Jones chased her own kick forward to touchdown for Wigan’s second. The third came when the ball was worked right to Hilton, who burst through the Huddersfield defence to spin over. Rowe was only successful with the first conversion attempt, but was back on target 10 minutes later when Shaniah Power showed excellent footwork to step out of a tackle and dive over.

The remainder of the first half saw Eva Hunter run a perfect line to score, shortly before Rowe, who added both of the final conversions of the half, took an offload from Cerys Jones to score.

The second half was even more dominated by Wigan, with eight further tries and six more Rowe conversions.

The first came when Mia-Jayne Atherton powered through the final tackle to go over, before Grace Banks scored a great solo effort when she broke free of a tackle to race away and then dummy her way to the posts.

Davies then crossed twice within six minutes, before Molly Jones beat two tacklers out wide to grab her second.

When Jade Gregory-Haselden was held just short, Remi Wilton crashed over from close range for Wigan’s twelfth try of the afternoon.

Molly Jones then hit the line perfectly to compete a well-deserved hat-trick, before Rowe’s second took her to 28 points for the afternoon.

But there was more than the scoreline to celebrate for Wigan, as Holly Speakman become the first player at the club to make 100 appearances for the side.
