Wigan Warriors sign Australian forward

THERE will be some Australian talent on show in Super League this season after Wigan Warriors secured the services of Shaniah Power from North Queensland Cowboys.

The 27-year-old forward will bring a wealth of talent to both Denis Betts’ side and the whole competition having represented both Queensland and the Indigenous All Stars four times, as well as also starring for New Zealand Warriors, Gold Coast Titans and Sydney Roosters.

“It’s fantastic news, not just for us but for the whole league to get a girl of her quality coming over here playing in this competition,” said Betts.

“We think she’s going to bring so much, not just as an individual but as a team player as well. She’s got great leadership skills and she’s already made an impression on the girls with her understanding and knowledge of the game.

“Being such a young side with some of the senior players within the squad such as Rachel Thompson, Vicky Molyneux and Mary Coleman, this adds that little bit of age and experience, so I think adding Shaniah to the mix will be a real bonus for us.”

Power said: “I’m beyond excited to go on this journey with the Warriors and to make new lifelong friends.”
