MATT PEET ‘enjoys’ the Super League Magic Weekend as his Wigan Warriors side gears up to face Warrington Wolves on Sunday afternoon.
The Warriors go into the fixture on the back of a 36-12 victory over Hull FC last weekend.
During that game, however, there were a number of flashpoints, not least the lengthy video refereeing decisions that saw multiple minutes go by without conclusion.
After the game, both Peet and Hull boss John Cartwright were vocal about the lengthy stoppages and the former is keen to see improvements at the Magic Weekend.
“I’ve got sympathy for some of the people in key positions because potentially it comes back to the technology,” Peet said.
“I’m sure conversations are going on in the background about trying to improve things. Hopefully it starts this week.
“We all want it to be better so if everyone is pulling in the same direction it will get better.”
In terms of the Magic Weekend concept, Peet is a fan.
“I enjoy it, I like it when you get the chance to play at new arenas for the players and the face to experience different places and locations,” Peet said.
“It’s a concept to spread the game. I like getting together as a rugby league community and the players and staff.
“It’s a great concept which shows it has been replicated across other sports. I just think that it’s a great city with sporting passion and history with a quality arena.
“There is a lot do in and around the game. It fits all the criteria you would want in a Magic Weekend.
“We will go up Saturday, we won’t train but we will travel. The lads enjoy it.”
