Wigan Warriors and England half-back George Williams has handed the club a major boost ahead of Saturday’s World Club Series showdown with Brisbane, after being included in their 19-man squad for the game.
Williams was in Wigan’s squad to face Huddersfield last week but was a late withdrawal – but Warriors coach Shaun Wane has insisted that he will be fit and raring to play.
Wane said: “George was 50:50 last week but we decided not to risk him, he’s good to go now and has trained well this week.
“The players have all trained really well, they’ve not needed any motivating at all for this game. We’re pumped and ready to go!
“It promises to be a great night at the DW with a big crowd, we can’t wait to get out onto the field now and go head to head with Brisbane.”
Wigan Warriors 19-man-squad: John Bateman, Gregg Burke, Josh Charnley, Tony Clubb, Liam Farrell, Ben Flower, Anthony Gelling, Oliver Gildart, Willie Isa, Dom Manfredi, Michael McIlorum, Sean O¹Loughlin, Sam Powell, Dan Sarginson, Matty Smith, Ryan Sutton, Taulima Tautai, Lewis Tierney, George Williams.
Brisbane have already named their starting 13 – with former Huddersfield fullback Greg Eden named on the wing, which will be his debut for the Broncos.
