Toronto Wolfpack are keen to secure the return of Canadian Quinn Ngawati.
League Express understands the Wolfpack have held talks with their former player regarding a return to Lamport Stadium.
Ngawati, 20, was part of the inaugural Toronto squad and played three times under former head coach Paul Rowley. He also played nine times for London Skolars.
He left the club at the end of 2018, but it’s believed plans are in place to bring back the Victoria-born talent ahead of their Super League return.
With Greg Worthington and Ryan Brierley leaving last week, the Toronto squad is in need of some depth.
Martin Vickers confirmed to League Express last month that the club’s focus was on recruiting players with Canadian heritage to bulk up their squad after the signings of Sonny Bill Williams, Brad Singleton and James Cunningham. Ngawati looks set to be the first.
Meanwhile, the club is highly unlikely to make a move for Latrell Mitchell, despite being linked with a move for the Sydney Roosters star.
Mitchell appears to be on the outer at the Roosters, despite being one of the NRL’s best performers, after the club withdrew their contract extension offer.
That prompted the Wolfpack to be linked with a move for the 22-year-old. It’s believed Toronto have indeed been contacted regarding Mitchell, but with both their marquee player spots used up, a move for Mitchell is almost impossible as a result of the substantial salary cap spend that would be required to sign one of the world’s elite players.
Meanwhile, Toronto have outlined themed events for each of their home games this season.
They will be:
Home Opener v Hull FC – April 18
Family Day v Wigan Warriors – April 25 (Kids Go Free!)
80’s Day v St Helens – May 2
Renaissance Day v Castleford Tigers – June 13
Beach Day v Hull Kingston Rovers – June 20
Commonwealth Day v Warrington Wolves – July 4
First Responders Day v Salford Red Devils – July 11

Rugby Heritage Day v Huddersfield Giants – August 8
