WORKINGTON TOWN could hand a debut to new signing Lucas Castle when they travel to Midlands Hurricanes on Sunday.
The Australian prop, who is a former St George Illawarra Dragons reserve grade player, spent the last two seasons with Cumbrian rivals Whitehaven.
While in the Championship with Haven, he made 52 appearances, leaving Town’s former Haven coach Jonty Gorley impressed by his consistency and workrate.
“It’s taken a bit of time to get Lucas over the line but he eventually got a deal sorted that worked for both parties,” said Gorley.
“I’m very thankful that Lucas is coming and to add him to our squad is a bonus.
“He’s a Championship-standard forward who has held his own the last couple of years in that competition.
“I’ve been on the lookout for for a quality frontrower and Lucas fits the bill.
“He’s a great addition and I can’t wait to see him in League One. I’m confident he’s going to do a very good job.”
