Workington Town re-sign playmaker from Whitehaven

WORKINGTON TOWN have swooped for their former playmaker Callum Phillips.

Phillips, who can play at halfback and hooker, made 112 appearances for Town between 2012 and 2017 after being picked up from amateur side Seaton Rangers.

He then moved to Cumbrian rivals Whitehaven in 2018 and made a further 86 appearances, although injuries have restricted him to only six games in the past two seasons.

The 32-year-old has now rejoined Town on a one-year deal and is the fifth player that coach Jonny Gorley has taken along the Cumbrian coast after switching clubs.

Phillips follows Ross Ainley, Rio Corkill, Jamie Doran and Will Evans in swapping Whitehaven for Workington.
