Workington Town unveil special kit supporting charity partner

WORKINGTON TOWN have unveiled a special kit which will be worn against Midlands Hurricanes in July.

It will help support the club’s 2025 charity partner Wasdale Mountain Rescue, close to the heart of Workington Town Community Trust’s main sponsor – No Name Travel Ltd’s Vicky Brown.

Wasdale Mountain Rescue have been assisting people in the western fells of the Lake District for more than 50 years, covering England’s highest mountain, Scafell Pike, and respond to more than 100 calls for help each year.

Vicky sadly lost her brother Chris when he went for a walk up Scafell Pike in 2019 and never came home.

Made by Ellgren, the unique and eye-catching jersey incorporates the colours associated with Wasdale Mountain Rescue and imagery of the distinctive mountain range. The shirts will be auctioned off after the game on Sunday, July 13 in aid of the charity.

The club said: “We felt it was a fitting opportunity to give back to Vicky after her incredible impact for our community work and support a huge personal passion for her and her family.

“We are proud and honoured to use the platform of Workington Town to generate substantial funds for the Wasdale Mountain Rescue organisation.

“With running costs around £70,000 a year we know we can make a significant donation to an organisation at the heart of keeping people safe while carrying out outdoor leisure interests.”

Fans have been able to order replicas of the shirt, while further fundraising will be done through out the year. For more information, visit townrlfc.com.
