Zak Hardaker to be a father by Christmas

Zak Hardaker has announced that he will be a father.

“I’m actually going to be a DAD!” the Wigan full-back explained in a heartfelt post on Instagram earlier today. “It means so much to me and Elisha. In the last eighteen months she’s been pregnant twice so twice I thought I was going to be a dad.

“It’s been a challenging few years regarding pregnancies,” he went on. “Elisha had a molar pregnancy, which means your body thinks you are pregnant but actually you’ve got a build-up of abnormal cells. And the next time, we got to seven weeks before finding out that she’d had a miscarriage.

“It’s a reality that these things can happen and if it has happened to you I feel your pain. But it isn’t the end,” said the England International, offering a few words of wisdom for other families who have experienced, or are currently experiencing, a similar situation.

2020 has been a tough year for everybody so far – in lockdown with the Covid-19 pandemic affecting the entire world for the past three months – but like most of us, Zak is focusing on the future, with his child due to arrive a few days before Christmas.
