Sheffield Eagles have signed Nathan Chappell for the remainder of the 2016 season.
Chappell, 26, has previously played for Featherstone Rovers in two separate stints, with his spells at Fev sandwiching a period with Canberra Raiders’ Cup side Golburn Workers Bulldogs.
He could make his debut when Sheffield face Featherstone on Friday.
“I’m delighted to have agreed a deal to join the Eagles,” said Chappell.
“They are going through a tough spell at the moment and I hope I can be part of a revival to turn the season around.
“It’s a great club and I know some of the boys from my time at Featherstone. Training has gone really well so far and I’m eager to get back out on the pitch.”
Mark Aston added; “It’s great we have secured Nathan’s services until the end of the season.
“He played under Daryl Powell a few seasons ago and comes highly recommended. I’d like to thank ex-Eagle Rocky Turner who is currently coaching at Underbank for brining Nathan to my attention.
“He’s a tough, resilient player and gives us further options at centre or second row. It’s no secret we have been looking to bring players in; we have a small squad and need competition for places, Nathan’s signing gives us that.
“I hope over the next few days to bring more players into the squad, we are in a dogfight at the moment and all the players and staff are determined to turn things around.”
The club have also confirmed they are trying to secure a Super League player on loan.
