Paterson still looking to box despite return to RL

New Salford Red Devils signing Cory Paterson has revealed he has not completely given up on his boxing career, after announcing his return to Rugby League earlier this week.

The former Wests Tigers and Hull KR man has agreed a deal to return to Super League, after signing a one-year deal with Iestyn Harris’ side for the 2015 season. However, Paterson left the Tigers at the end of last season to commence a career as a professional boxer, winning both of his fights since turning professional.

And Paterson says that he still wants to return to the ring at some point, and isn’t even ruling out fighting during the off-season whilst he is still a professional Rugby League player.

“I still am serious about it but it’s just been put on hold,” he said.

“I’ve had two fights and two wins now so I’m successful at it, but it’s just one of those things that I still want to play football while I still can.

“If the opportunity comes up to fight, maybe in an off season or something, then I’ll definitely look at it.”
