Bailey may not make Castleford debut just yet

Castleford Tigers coach Daryl Powell has admitted he’s unsure as to whether new signing Ryan Bailey will go straight into their side for the weekend trip to Salford Red Devils.

Bailey signed a deal with Cas until the end of the season earlier this week, after leaving Hull Kingston Rovers having made just a solitary appearance for the Robins.

And Powell, when asked about whether the former Super League winner will be thrown straight into contention, said: “I’m not sure yet.

“Obviously it’s the first time he’s trained today so we’ll have a look at him later in the week.

“We’ll probably give him a couple of weeks to settle in with us but you never know.”

Powell did admit that Bailey’s condition is good though, despite the little amount of action he has experienced since leaving Leeds at the end of last season.

“He looks okay. He looks in good nick. He did a little bit with our conditioner yesterday sand trained pretty hard today. He doesn’t look too bad.”
