Catalans in talks to sign the ‘Man of the People’

Anthony Gelling could be set for a Super League return with Catalans.

The Dragons CEO Christophe Jouffret has confirmed the club is in talks with the former Wigan centre ahead of 2019.

Gelling, the self-proclaimed ‘Man of the People’, left the Warriors ahead of the current season to be closer to his family and joined NRL outfit New Zealand Warriors.

But Jouffret confirmed the club is in talks to sign the 27-year-old.

“Ye, it is a player that we follow and with whom we discuss but it is not only him,” Jouffret told Treize Mondial.

“We are in the period when the negotiations are growing and we still have 15 players at the end of the contract. We will do our best to keep the best players and strengthen the membership with other players.”

Catalans have several players off contract in the backs roster, including Fouad Yaha, Iain Thornley and Brayden Wiliame, the latter of whom has been linked with a move to Castleford.
