Every round of cup is like a final, says Michaels

Hull FC centre Steve Michaels has insisted that the intensity of knockout Rugby League in the Challenge Cup means that every single round is played like a Grand Final.

Michaels could make his debut in the competition this weekend having signed from Gold Coast Titans in the off-season, as the Black and Whites look to start their journey to Wembley against Sheffield Eagles.

And the centre says that FC will have to be on top form to progress to the next round – just as they will in every stage of the competition.

“The Challenge Cup I know is a whole new ball game. It’s very exciting when you play knock out football like this, it means that every round is like a Grand Final,” he told the club’s official website.

“You have to bring your ‘A’ game every week and we’ll be looking to do that against Sheffield, we want to continue on in this competition.

“A win would allow us to get a bit of a roll on and will hopefully have a snow ball effect on our Super League season as well.”
