Ex-Tigers trio can be key for the Giants

Huddersfield Giants’ winter signing from Castleford Tigers are set to feature against their former club at the John Smiths Stadium tonight (Thursday).

Craig Huby and Jamie Ellis were both influential as the Giants finally got off the mark in Super League last week against Widnes. Danny Brought, another ex-Tigers player, also starred in that win and Giants coach Paul Anderson knows that the trio could pay another big role as the Giants look to make it two from two.

“I thought Craig Huby probably had his best game for us last week and he’ll obviously be looking to build on that,” Anderson told the Huddersfield Examiner.

“Jamie Ellis is also starting to find his feet within the team. He’s getting more and more in control and more understanding of the things we’re trying to achieve.

“We saw Danny running a lot more with the ball in the second half against Widnes, and the results spoke for themselves. He took control and was very good.

“The challenge now is for them, and everyone else in the squad, to make sure they build on their last performance and get us another win.”

Luke Robinson also looks set to feature after returning from injury and will share the hooking role with Kyle Wood following Shaun Lunt’s loan move to Hull KR.

Huddersfield’s 19-man squad to face Castleford: Scott Grix, Jermaine McGillvary, Leroy Cudjoe, Joe Wardle, Aaron Murphy, Danny Brough, Luke Robinson, Eorl Crabtree, Craig Huby, Brett Ferres, Jack Hughes, Chris Bailey, Michael Lawrence, Craig Kopczak, Kyle Wood, Ukuma Ta’ai, Jamie Ellis, Jake Connor, Josh Johnson
