Powell expecting tough test

Castleford Tigers will welcome back Andy Lynch, Scott Moore and Jordan Tansey to their squad to face Huddersfield Giants as they look to build on their 42-14 win over Wigan Warriors last time out.

That victory saw them get off the mark at the same time as tonight’s opponents also got their opening win of the season against Widnes Vikings.

With only one of the teams able to make it back to back wins, Tigers coach Daryl Powell expects a tough encounter at the John Smiths Stadium.

“Wigan was a really important win for us after the first three games didn’t quite go our way,” Powell told the Pontefract and Castleford Express.

“It was a big weight lifted off the players’ minds and it has allowed them to relax a bit. There were a few smiles this week in training.

“Huddersfield will be an interesting game and there are lots of little bits that will dictate whether it is won or lost for us but for me it’s just about us playing well. If we perform well we are pretty confident we are a tough side to beat.

“Huddersfield have had a similar start to us. They are a good side with a lot of quality players and they challenge you all over the field. It will certainly be a tough game for us.”

Castleford’s 19-man squad to face Huddersfield: Ryan Boyle, Justin Carney, Michael Channing, James Clare, Matt Cook, Steve Crossley, Luke Dorn, Liam Finn, Luke Gale, Oliver Holmes, Andy Lynch, Nathan Massey, Grant Millington, Scott Moore, Junior Moors, Ben Roberts, Jordan Tansey, Jake Webster, Scott Wheeldon
