Catalan Dragons’ in-form second-rower Elliott Whitehead is set to spend “several weeks” on the sidelines with an ankle injury, but has been cleared of a fracture.
The former Bradford Bulls star, 25, has been in prolific form this year, scoring nine tries in as many appearances. He sustained the injury playing against his former club in a Challenge Cup fifth-round tie at Odsal on Sunday.
Dragons boss Laurent Frayssinous said: “It’s a big loss for us, Elliott has been outstanding this season so far. But I am pleased for Elliott that it is not a fracture, as it was feared after the game.
“The medical staff will work closely with him now to make sure he rehabilitates correctly.”
