Leeds boss Brian McDermott insists the Rhinos are not taking a semi-final place for granted after drawing Championship outfit Leigh in the quarter-finals of the Challenge Cup.
McDermott’s men have faced only two lower-tier sides in their last 18 Cup ties, the last coming in 2012 against – you guessed it – the Centurions. Leeds cruised to a 60-12 victory then, but this season Leigh are the professional game’s only unbeaten side and will present a much sterner test.
McDermott told the Yorkshire Post: “We played at their place last time and we remember it was a contest for a fair while. We have too much respect for Leigh – and more importantly, for the Challenge Cup – to take the quarter-final lightly.”
