Salford Red Devils have hired retired Super League referee Richard Silverwood to improve their on-field discipline.
Marwan Koukash confirmed on Twitter that the club was bringing in the experienced official to ensure they prevent them conceding as many penalties as they are.
The club will use @SilversRef as a consultant to help the boys concede less penalties .
We have conceded far too many recently— Marwan Koukash (@drmarwanK) September 5, 2016
Silverwood officiated over 400 games in his career, including the 2013 World Cup Final.
“Richard will be working with the players to try and improve their discipline,” Koukash told the BBC.
“We have been conceding far too many penalties recently. The penalty count at Leeds last week was 14-6 and you can’t win games from that position.
“He will be reviewing every game and helping the players understand where they went wrong. He started this week and will be with us for the long term.”
