We heard it was a done deal today. But it was only fans talking so rumour on top of rumour.
-
I was heard the same today. Adam Lawton was there but didn’t see Danny Craven

We are at Boundary Park for a minimum of 10 years and likely beyond this.
We are a partner in a multi million partnership and play at on a £1m pitch that is the envy of the sport!I wonder at times where people get these ideas when we are so well placed.

The fact someone mentioned a rebrand and we are play at Sedley RUFC has got me interested in what is most important to Oldham Rugby fans. I'm going to list to options, please pick 1 or 2. No caveats just a number please.
Option 1: Oldham RLFC merge with Latics and become Oldham Owls playing at Boundary Park but change their colours to blue and tangerine.
Option 2: Oldham RLFC move to Manor Park and merge with Oldham RUFC to become a duel code club known as Roughyeds playing in Red and White Hoops. Manor Park gets funding from Bill Quinn and the Council to turn the ground into a 4000 stadium similar to Tameside Stadium.
Absolutely no to any of this!

Watching the Allout Rugby Podcast, they rate Oldham as one of the clubs to take the reduced funding to gain admission to SL 2026. Matt Shaw is a journalist with his ear to the ground so will be interesting to see what happens.
All this squad building surely is for a reason ?-

Such methods were not the way clubs wanted it to be, and so a compromise was reached.
But again that the tail wagging the dog once again!

But then, just make it mandatory to have the boards, as it will be part of the advertising strategy.
I said on an earlier post that awarding points for this rather on on field performance is wrong. But, making them part of minimum standards ( after bulletting IMG) is a different matter

Sounds like another may be on his out. Ryan Brierley to Oldham

Back in training with us, but sounds like he won’t make the 21 for Sunday listening to SL in his match preview

Just watching SLs preview and he says Dixon and Wildie are back next week. They were ready for playing, but didn’t want to risk them and giving them another week.

Reports we have offered Ryan Brierley a five year deal… he’s 33 already, not sure about that as good a player as he is.
If that’s the case it sounds like PLT might be back at HKR

Have you had over 3000 this season? Do you think it will put fans off moving venue's?
Generally between 2-3000. The wigan match was around 3600

Just wondering when this was? I can't remember this ever being voted for or Bramley ever topping the NCL.
Silly argument. But to be honest Bramley should have been reinstated in the league. As far as other clubs go including the winners of the NCL they can always apply for League status if they want to. They majority want to remain as community clubs.

Suspect you'll miss out on what would have been one of your better attendances this season.
That is very true. The board are likely gutted as hospitality was almost sold out I understand. Like you say, the crowd would have well over 3000.

Is there any news on him returning or leaving?

Why is Oldham not playing at Home?
The pitch maintenance ran over for to a late start following the football teams running the play offs. It should be ready for the Sheffield match the following week

Jeopardy leads clubs into short term thinking and panic signings with money they might not be able to afford. We saw with London what can happen when’s team is promoted before they are really ready for it.
I disagree. The only people who don’t want jeopardy are the clubs who want the status quo to remain. If they were the ones in the championship they would be screaming out for it

For a TV product these are literally the most important aspects yet to you they are "silly". Says it all.
Yes but not marking it down over a few inches. Better word would be sensible.

We used to get dodgy film filmed on one camera by the clubs posted, it's a world away from what it was Harry.
Then let's look at the output the clubs are putting out, podcasts, behind the scenes videos more interviews etc etc, this is because they have been forced to do this stuff or they will get left behind.
An interesting comparison. Halifax & Oldham both have put out a highlights package from Sundays match. With no offence meant to Halifax, the difference between the two is huge.
Oldham though have a full time media team and their output is very professional and regular with interviews and a weekly magazine show.
At a recent forum it was stated the IMG were quite shocked at the number of digital impressions the club had and asked for them to be rechecked ( they were correct) as they were on a par with most SL clubs.
so yes digital media is important for the image of the game.-

Okay. So to be quite simplistic,
1) Decide how many games we want. So if we want 26 matches we have 14 teams. No loop games. It is damaging to the sport and makes it look small time.
2) set minimum standards and keep to them. Make them sensible, pitch sizes, changing rooms, toilets, catering etc. not silly ones like height of TV platform or enforced digital pitch side markings. Employ a couple of enforcement officers.
3) earn the right to promotion by results on the field rather than on paper. The sport needs jeopardy not protection of a few teams. I have been told it is because players livelihoods are at stake if a team is relegated. Again teams going up will want players do there are always opportunities for players to find employment they need. It is always the way that other team or business is not good enough, they are replaced by one who is better.
4) make sure all clubs are audited on a regular basis both on standards and finances.
5) only promote clubs who meet the Cortes in 2& 4-

Some of the signings for next season are going to be unreal. Some of the signings I've been told would be the best players I've ever seen in an Oldham shirt.
Really hope we can keep the majority of this years squad but you can imagine JT, Dudson, ET retiring. Then Tyrer and Astley simply haven't played enough to know if they're up to Championship standard and be unlikely to stay. We must keep the twins, they've been pound for pound the best signings we've made since BQ and Ford came in. Would happily keep everyone else from the squad but it depends if they want to play every week or are happy to be a squad member such as the likes of Lawton and Moran who we've already seen go out on loan.
Think people are going to be surprised how good a squad we'll have next season.
I have a sneaky suspicion that the club are planning for SL. I have more a few rumours about full time but MF said the squad would only be full time in SL, so….. ?
ET told me at pre-season he was heading home at the end of the season to take up his pilots job, but who knows. The guy is still remarkably fit as we saw on Sunday.
Couldn’t agree more on the Chapelhows. Lawton, Farnworth and Moran are great players and would still fit well at the club. A fit Brad Gallagher would be an asset too I would image George Hirst will be near the Wigan First team next season so would be surprised if we see him Forget about Ashurst, still excellent as of now
Hopefully Mattie Wildie will be back in the engine room and maybe with Pellisier? Liam Hood is tried and tested at Championship and SL.
The pack is very strong with all the new signings. In the backs I hope Oldham can continue with PLT. Kieren Dixon is class, Ben Davies is an excellent signing, and Ben O’Keefe showed what we have been missing. If he can regain fitness Iain Thornley is superb at centre.
What about the others? I wonder if all these injuries are catching up with Mo? Logan Astley seems to be on the periphery now. Cian Tyrer doesn’t seem to have made the step up to championship level which is a shame but it could be a confidence thing and another preseason may change it all?
