  1. Didn't say how 'What time is it Mr Wolf'  When asked by the kids he would say a time. If he said 2 '0clock then the kids woulf take two strides to be nearer him. He was a fair way away. Every time he gave a time the kids took that number of strides forward, he remained where he was. Then when they where near and asked the time he would shouit DINNER TIME and turn and chase. If he caught someone he would pretend to eat them and then that one was out. Then the game continued from the beginning would start again. A gap and a question and an answer. Until  DINNER TIME was picked.

  2. Further to what I have said I was thinking about games we used to play as kids. I was a volunteer at school for 3 to 11 years olds and showed them how to make a paper aeroplane, a paper boat and a kite with 2 sticks and a newspaper. We then had competitions for farest the planes could go. The boats needed wax under them so they didn't sink. In the old days we used a candle to get wax. The kites were flown in the playground. I also showed them how to play: 'What time is it Mr Wolf' , 'Run across', 'Musical hats'( instead of Musical Chairs) the hat was passed from head to head and when the music stopped the person who had the hat was out. 'Find the sixpence'. A coin was put under on foot of a person as all the people sat in a circle, the contender came in and could lift any one of three person feet, if the coin was found that person whose foot it was under was then on, if not the original person was still on and had to pay a consequence. 'Pass the parcel'.l A parcel was made up of numerous papers with a prize inside. It was passed from person to person in a circle, and each one had to tear the paper to try and find the prize, a count of three was done and after three the parcel was passed on. There were many more games a quite few being outside. I am quite happy to participate as a volunteer if it will attract new members.  No fees wanted. If needed in any capacity please let me know. Just to remind you. I am 90 but still active. I am a retired bank manager, but have also been a miner, a railway clerk, and a National Service  soldier, I did two years in Eygpt and then was called back for the Suez Crisis on active service. Vast experience in dealing with all classes of people. In many catergories. Here if needed. Two degrees and won prizes. BA(Hons), ACIB. A supporter for 86 years only missed our when I was in the army abroad. Just remembered, we also had races round the field outside to have a winner. Also  shorter races in field with handicaps to give everbody a chance. Also dancing I taught rock and roll at school, plus excercises. Still walk most days and have an active mind. Just remembered 'Simon says' If the person running the game says 'Simon Says' then the action is to be done by the kids. like raising both arms, If he give orders to do something but doesnt mention Simon and the kids do it they are out. Good for a laugh. All the best Colin Smith. UTR

  3. I am 4 months off 91. My dad took me to a match when I was 4 years old. I have been a supporter ever since. Let the supporters bring their offspring and let the little ones under 15 in for nothing. The young ones who are working charge them a pittance. Take their names and addresses and market them to be full supporters as time gores by. We also had touch and pass on the field at half time. That got quite a few to go. Use the facilities to attract young ones. Have a fair for a small charge. Free ice cream etc for the young ones. During my youth we had an under 18's team and a second team, bring them backand let them progress. We also had connections with local shops. You got a discount on purchases if you could prove you were a Rovers supporter. Lets get marketing on a strong basis. Still a season ticket holder.

  4. Now 7.15 and the endof MOM scoring for the Goole game. The winner is Boothroyd with 16 votes, second is Herring with 10 votes and third is Webb with 6 votes. They in the totals for MOM score 3,2,1 .On to the Dewsbury game. UTR.

  5. Many different opinions all have some credence but it depends on personal circumstances. I missed going to the Goole game because of the weather and my poor ability of driving in darkness. I am going to the Dewsbury match as the circumstances are better for me. Whatever the decisions made by the people who make them there are good points for some and poor points for others. UTR

  6. At 10.15 we have Boothroyd 10, Herring 8, Beckett, Day and Webb 4, Jones 3, Hatton 2, Jeffrey 1. Seeing as we have a game on Saturday I will give this match one more day for voting. Thanks to the people who parcitipated. On Friday night I will set up for the Dewsbury match. UTR.

  7. 1 hour ago, The Phantom Horseman said:

22-man squad named for the Goole pre-season game. A few "senior" players missing - Addy, Tuimavave, Vuniyayawa, Akauola, and Eden, Gale's still working his way back to fitness, Arnold & O'Connor also not included. Rhodes and Clarke listed as triallists, I wonder if that means we have already signed Jonny Openshaw (who is a 22-year-old hooker who was with Rochdale last season) or whether that's just an omission. The other two triallists Rhodes and Clarke are both from Heworth where of course Paddy Handley has strong connections.

Cant get a connection. What is the 22 squad for the Goole game.

  8. Seeing that Mark has got things moving for the new season I would like to see votes for this match. I know it is only a friendly but as we have quite a few new players it would be great to see how our supporters feel about our play. So I am starting the MOM now and will include other Friendlys. All the best for the new year. Only 5 months off 91 years old but have paid for my Season Ticket and will continue to support as long as I can. UTR.
