Great! add it to your list of 'famous forum wins', well done fella! I dont need to put an argument forward when Mick Wilson et al are doing a great job.
Quality.
Nah, you wouldn't even be close to a famous forum win. You're small time.
-
You're an excellent cure for insomnia pal
Good luck in SL.
Ad hominem = no argument.
-
My mistake you came a glorious FOURTH
In the season you were trying
mega massive super.
From some it would be mistake, from you with your record, I'd suggest it was a lie.
-
Who cares about Crowds? Surely the game is more important? Not in Rugby League! This just shows what a farce the RFL and this franchising lark is! Fax will not be in SL and are not ready for it. Fev won the League and for me hoipe they win the Grand Final-best team over the year. They deserve to have a crack at SL rather than clubs who have won nothing this year! But the way the RFL keep moving goal posts to fit their point of view it would not surprise me if clubs did exagerate things to stay/get in SL. In many cases there is little difference between Barrow, Halifax, Leigh, Fev over Salford, Bradford, Quins, Crusaders , Wakey, Cas etc. Some clubs are only in SL due to a sugar Daddy being with them at the right time.
This is where the problem is.
P & R has gone, but people cannot accept it and take their frustrations out on Widnes for playing the RFL's game.
Whether we should have P & R back and whether Widnes deserve Super League are two very different arguments.
-
Theres the key to this whole thing, nobody's bothered anymore, every time a club does well, one of your lot is in, its beyond boring. I won't be posting anymore, I've said all I can, enjoy your plod-athon.
So as I suspected, you have no argument.
If you can't be bothered to read it, don't make pointless little comments like the one you made.
Once again, 'one of your lot,' so people don't have their own opinions any more? I'm sure every fan of your club speaks for you as well. Whether or not a Widnes fan comes in spouting nonsense, it doesn't excuse the lies and further nonsense that comes in reply.
-
Excellent plod along attitude.
So we shouldn't only have to meet the set RFL criteria on and off the field, we should have to try and satisfy every Championship club's fans as well?
-
Do you mean like the previous season when you finished err 5th or was it 6th
good job your loanee's won you the NR Cup.
So we didn't meet the minimum criteria then?
Also Mick, please stop lying. Especially when it can be easily disproven by a simple internet search, it doesn't make your argument any better. It was 4th.

Oh well
I just find it amusing that a Widnes fan can state anyone else knows very little, when we have Widnes coaches and Widnes fans totally ignoring the junior set-ups at other clubs (IE. Cullen stating Featherstone had no future as we had no academy). You're fans are just totally ignorant, good luck in Super League, no doubt you were better candidates than Crusaders last time, but Jesus Christ you lot had no trouble in telling us that.
Did I say that? It's amazing how one person's opinion can stand for thousands of people.
Do Widnes not have a better junior set up than Featherstone regardless of their junior set-up? We don't ignore it but the fact is that we have a better one than it.
If you had bothered to read the post, you would see that I was addressing somebody who was suggesting that we have to refer to 1990 to try to boost our position, when we don't. He then went on about on the field nonsense again which does show how little he understands.
As for the last line, it goes both ways, Widnes have been favourites from day one and as such have been attacked from other fans, looking to trip us up wherever possible and make out like we're not good enough. It all comes from jealousy. Widnes fans of course aren't allowed to point out the obvious flaws in the argument or stick up for their own club.
We'll see how much you all love Halifax when they are the favourites for promotion.
-
Priceless coming from a Widnes fan
So what of the actual post did you disagree with?
Emoticons are not an excuse for an argument.
-
I think the RFL should look at the overall package, and not primarily OFF the field things. A club needs to be able to cope ON the pitch as well. Certainly it is ludicrous to promote a club that is 15-20 points short of the league leaders and only have a win rate of 50% compared to 89.5% as the leaders Fev are and 79% as Fax are.
This is why the P+R argument has its strength because the on the field performance is of primary concern whereas a team that are only in the middle of the table are more likely to be whipping boys upon promotion, and therefore be of little benefit to the higher division.
Nonsense.
So if we did have P & R then do you think Widnes would have exactly the same squad as they do now? Do you think that the clubs would have voted to reduce the cap to 300k as well?
Final question, how many players do you think Featherstone or Fax would retain if promoted to Super League, with potentially an extra

Enlighten us all please.
Enlighten you about what? The way to conduct yourself on a forum without looking like a childish brat?
-
I'm a Featherstone Fan, so it didn't double my teams crowd.
Mentioning that you have an under 15's / 16's academy et all, well so do we!
We don't go around saying we have this, you don't, we have bigger crowds than you, we won the WCC in 90's blah blah. I personally find it funny that have to stoop to that level to make Widnes look actually good. IMO you don't deserve a license, on the field you've been poor, you had a good spell, when you had your loan players from Warrington and that has been it.
I honestly don't think any team in the Championships are ready for the top division yet, a lot of off the field work has to go in and i'd probably say all of them aren't ready yet, in 2015 i'd say 2 or 3 would be.
This shows how little you know or understand.
We actually mention that we run youth at all levels not just U15's and U16's. You're saying we have to stoop to a level to make us look good, which is nonsense. What about crowds, stadium, youth development doesn't make us look good in comparison to other clubs in this league? Winning the WCC adds nothing and people don't mention it very often despite you're mentioning that we do. When it is it's simply to say that Widnes are a famous name in RL and much more so than the other clubs we're up against it.
How many times does it need to be pointed out that on the field is not what licensing is about? We don't have P & R anymore, get over it. In the words of the RFL, there is a minimum criteria and Widnes have met it. We are dealing with a salary cap of 300k in comparison to

Silly old me, what a dumbarse
Still not found the plot then Mick?

I personally hate the 10m rule, which was brought in by the Aussies, and benefits them most of all
It only seems to work when you have two very evenly matched teams, who are fit in the sense of running backwards and forwards. If we'd been a global game with RL the number 1 sport in many countries, it would have been perhaps a logical way forward. However we are not. Now its almost impossible to see cup or international shocks, based purely on this silly 10m fitness and the knock on effect of the added momentum. The best way to grow the sport are to make suprises more plentiful by encouraging the skill side of the game
The negatives are plently:
- Widens gap between full time and part time encounters (bad for cup matches and internationals)
- Causes more injurys (players used to play far more games even when they were part time)
- Leads to more blow-out scorelines
- Makes it too easy to score (on the whole)
- Bad for encouraging people to take up RL for leisure/amateur level. Also people retire sooner or go off and play Union when they get older
So although maybe 20% games in SL might be superb spectacles under the 10m rule, you'll end up with far more blowouts, silly scorelines, no cup shocks and no international shocks which doesn't help develop the game. On the whole I could take a slightly less open game if the scorelines were vastly reduced with more shocks
Get shut of it now
I'm not convinced that 10 metres is best for the game but I think you're guilty of what net geeks like to call a 'Post hoc ergo propter hoc' argument, assuming something is the cause of an event merely because it happened before that event.
There are many other reasons for the lack of shocks, full time professionalism being probably the main one. This has fundamentally changed the way the game is played. The game used to be more off the cuff and obviously skillful to the untrained eye but somewhere along the line somebody has come along and realised that a structured game plan produces better results, everybody then changes suit. Later, somebody realised that wrestling techniques would improve defence and then everybody changes suit.
The game constantly evolves and full-time professionalism linked to the mass availability of games on TV and the internet has seen this happen at a much quicker rate than before. You just need to look at how Football, Union, Tennis, Golf etc have all changed relatively rapidly also in the past 15 years.

Horrendous news.
Sincere condolences to Paul and his family.

Don't get me wrong, Ray French talks a lot of sense about RL. He really does. His weekly column is one of the few good things in the League Weekly. Unfortunately, as a commentator his best days are well behind him. His player recognition is at times embarrassing. If he were commentating on a more high profile sport, he would've gone years ago.
Just a point about the Leeds away kit. Do away kits have to be a different colour from the main kit, because the Leeds one seems to be just a variation of the normal colours. As shown with the clash with Warrington's kit, it's no real alternative to the home one.
I thought that, as an away kit this proves it doesn't work. Although they are used differently nowadays, they are still meant to be used when a colour clash occurs. However their kit still results in just as bad a colour clash.
If the RFL had any sense they would switch this right away, to Wire's genuine away kit.
-
At the end of the day if there was any justice Fev would be playing at the top table next season with the team who finishers bottom of SL going the other way
Simplistic.
Not to take anything away from Featherstone's achievement but if we didn't have licensing we probably wouldn't have a 300k cap and would see very different squads as clubs would prioritise differently.

I asked a simple question and you have - like a poilitician given an irrelevant reply. Kindly answer the question. They have a more realistic chance of presenting a successful SL club in my opinion.
Salford have more potential but by that token Harlequins have the largest potential in the league.
I've said previously, if Salford have the stadium then they should be given a license. My opinion is that if they don't have the stadium then they are the weakest.
The answer was in there, but I had to also explain how in reality 'potential' is a get out clause to make up for current failures.

OK I will accept the wager at a 50% increase on this years attendances for
-
Well you keep bashing and bashing don't you? Do you have share is Castleford or something? Very simply ...........as it stands.........the Stadium will be finished by the 2012 season. If Peel are taken over then I obviously cannot confirm whether the new Owners will complete on time! All being well we will be snugly sat down to watch our opening game in front of 12,000 fans in 2012.
One final question - Do you honetly believe that Castleford have MORE POTENTIAL than Salford to sell the game to NEW fans from their respective new homes? An honest answer please MD.
They have a more realistic chance of presenting a successful SL club in my opinion.

OK then lets make it a third - OK with that?
No, my point was to show you up for making ridiculous statements like they could go up 50% next year.

Maybe bit optimistic at 50% but what I will do is have a wager of

Never realised this but winning the league should of course mean a box ticked. It's arguably the hardest of them all.
Well done Fev, very well deserved victory.

For God's sake Mick are you that stupid.
I was advising you against lying when people can easily find out the answer using a simple internet search.
