As I keep saying, and it now appears that some are finally coming round, we need the likes of Milthorpe and Burton playing NOW if they are to be stepping up next season with the liklihood of some retirements. If they keep being ignored and stop coming then we're in the cow mess. We had Connor Carr last season, played him once and Giants took him back as he was supposed to be here for match experience. We let Collinson go, sound player, could have gone on loan and been back here next season. Milthorpe was working away pre Wath Brow, he told me and he has been named in a squad since. Are we so short then that we have to name a bloke who's not trained? We start the season with a small squad, running on not quite a shoestring even, then we seem intent on making things tighter by putting week in week out pressure on 18 or 19 names. Recently there's been a glut of good players on the merry go round, we've got gaps in that already stretched squad and have we had a result? Again, I've said about pace, got laughed at but now somebody expresses their fear that Fev will take advantage of our lack of it! So clearly I'm not the weirdo and moaner you all say then....

    who do you drop?

    Morton?

    Kear?

    Hodgson?

    Leak?

    You're like Chicken Little.....

and the answer to your last sentence is yes.

    I think you might be.

    🥱🥱🥱🥱🥱

We played at Plough Lane where flats are tight up behind all 4 sides, nobody says Wimbledon or Broncos can't play because of balls hitting their windows!

🤡 Bit of a difference,a ball hitting a moving car potentially causing the driver to swerve in shock and hit another vehicle therefore causing a serious accident and possibly a fatality,to a ball hitting a stationary window.

    don't you think? 🙄🙄🙄

All this fuss about a bit of snow! Anyone remember the 1990 Cup game aainst oldham batley winning in last minute 20-16! (full game available on YouTube!) all they did was clear the lines and play with about 4/5inch of snow on the pitch!  Stiny even used a pile of  snow to kick the goals!  The games gone soft lad!😂

    Keith Rayne hat-trick.

John Cogger sent off for Oldham for sticking twos up at long stand.

One of our more 'glamorous' female stewards pulling his Mullet hair-do during a melee on the touchline involving Andy Williams and Cogger 🤣🤣🤣

    proper Winter Rugby League....

    bring back the Biff!!!!!

  4. also wasn't he the referee during the infamous 'battle in the snow' at Mount pleasant in the Regal Trophy game, when he sent off Cogger for gesticulating at the crowd after Paul Round had scored a try? Cogger had 'allegedly' had his mullet pulled by one of our female stewards a few moments earlier after a melee on the touchline...

we beat you in the last minute with our player coach Keith Rayne getting a hat trick of tries...think that was 1990/91?

Well, as much as they deserved all the plaudits last week, they have to take every brick thrown at them today. Lacking in organisation, no second phase play at all bar Buchanan's try, the times Meadows broke the line and tried to be the hero, Woods wasn't to be seen, starting props barely effective, ineffective tackling 2nd half, no pace. Last week promised a decent go at tge season, today left it looking like a slog.

To be fair it is always going to be a slog...

Other teams have really spent and strengthened, and we know we can't do as well on that front as we'd like, but we should be winning games like this.

I fear if we lose the next couple of games it's going to be struggle all year.

  6. Pretty toothless performance today.

Swinton used the momentum and took advantage of some stupid and woeful discipline from players who I think are a bit in love with themselves from last year.....some looked decidedly, and unexpectedly, poor after we'd gone behind.

Unfortunately Lingard isn't in a position to drop them if they carry on making the same dozy mistakes.

I had a bad feeling about this game all week.

Need a reaction for Sheffield away next week after their win up at Barrow.

  7. Interesting signing this.

Always looked good and handy when he played against us when he was with the Rams.

seemed to find the try line regularly if I remember.....could be a good addition.

As Phildog says, let's have a look at him on Monday 👍

Concerning that re-signings have come to a stop. Whiteley, Johnson, Gledhill, Kaye....we brought in 1 young forward. Our pack can't churn it out time after time after time. Must have been some World Cup players, if not out and out stars, who we could have given a leg up

    seriously who? name them.

    our and out stars? 🤣🤣

    Ado-carr? Tedesco?

and would they want to play for Batley with our strict wage structure?

Just because we finished 2nd (or whatever) last year does not make us highly attractive and desirable to play for.....I for one will be extremely delighted to finish in the top 6 and not get dragged into the relegation mire next year.

some people are getting delusional in thinking that last year wasn't an amazing feat and that we should be regularly getting to the playoffs with ease and attracting top players.

    we won't.

    and we aren't.

Just the way both he and his father spoke about the club whilst he was here, personal opinion as usual....

Never spoke to Elliott that season he was with us,so can't comment on that, but would loved to have seen him used as a strike player/back up winger this coming season.

maybe the lure of a regular 1st team spot at Doncaster swayed his decision to go there? who knows?

    Good luck to the lad.

i still remember that score uphill against Bulls in playoff win 😀😀 great moment.

EH would IMO have been vastly improved by Linners and would have drifted automatically into Hooley's hole AND have had longevity. Not that EK isn't greatly welcome.

maybe (and believe it or not it can actually happen)...

he just didn't want to play for Batley...

    That's all 2021 as I can see....

the thread clearly states the kit is 'imminent'..

that means 'about to happen' or 'impending'....

but I'm sure if you go up there and horsewhip his wife he'll dutifully oblige you with immediate access to the design and give you a free box of shirts...

Blimey Phil, these explanations are becoming rather lengthy you know but if you get to know, you get to know and simply try to let others know. I'm sure you and they know what I mean!!

Oh, heaven forbid, I'm one who delights in all manifestations of the Terpsichorean muse!..........

oh.sorry....thought you were complaining about the bouzouki player...🙄🙄
