We have an outline calendar until 2030, just not a fixture list for 2024, which ahead of the autumn is the same as the sports we find people comparing ourselves to internationally, like Rugby Union and Cricket (e.g. the finalised details/tickets for most of the November internationals and next autumn's England tour to Pakistan have not yet been announced).

Let's just hope all involved get their act in gear on this Samoa tour soon and we have an announcement of something soon.

British lions tour down under in 2025 has a final fixture list and tickets already sold/selling.

  2. I dont think british and other veterans are forgotten….its just that remembrance day is the day chosen for that purpose in UK.

Having attended the dawn service at Gallipoli there is an official british military presence at the service every year

There were more british deaths at Gallipoli (or the Dardanelles as it is referred to in UK) than Australia and NZ combined but that reflects the different number of participants from the respective countries.

He was a grub but a great grub no doubt and one of the great attacking centres. My enduring memory of Hill was in the dying minutes of a match at Brookvale, holding off a Broncos` defender with one arm whilst running about 20 metres to score in the corner to win the match for Manly. Power, speed and determination, always loved watching him play.

He played for Manly and NSW……..shame, because apart from that he was a very good player and a huge fan of the greyhounds. Those in Aussie will remember the footy show sponsoring a dog and calling it Nads….so the call when it ran was GoNads. It was usually Terry Hill at the track.

Rest peacefully young man. ..a credit to the game.

Brilliant we`ve got the ANZAC Day clash in New Zealand now, that will be another big event game every year.

I can`t wait for tomorrow, 3 ANZAC Day matches spread across New Zealand and Australia. All we need now is an ANZAC Day eve clash in the nation`s capital Canberra every year, loads of dignitaries in Canberra at that time of year who would attend and it could be another big annual event game.

Possibly for next year since Anzac day will fall on Friday so the ‘eve’ would be the regular Thursday night slot.

Was this when the sport went bankrupt, players had long term unsupported injuries in their retirement, and we still had to fill our squads by poaching lads from union?

The players currently behind legal action for long term impacts of injuries are from a later era. The reason we no longer ‘poach’ union players is because we cant afford them since union went openly professional.

Slightly off topic, but are the Aussies missing a trick by playing their State of Origin on a Wednesday instead of a Saturday?

Would they not have a better chance of getting a global audience if they moved it?

I just looked up the dates, but it's 1105am on three Wednesdays, so I didn't bother adding it to my calendar. Whereas I would definitely watch it if it was on a Saturday.

I'm sure they have their own reasons, but I wonder if in future they'll consider playing it at the weekend.

They played one of the games at the weekend for a few years but it entailed cancelling the entire NRL programme. From a personal point of view it didnt seem to have the same aura as the midweek blockbusters.

I see Keighley piled on the points yesterday as did Midland. I still feel it will come down to points difference at the end of the season. We should have played our strongest team against Cornwall and scored as many as we could. After Hunslet we could have scored over 80.

My concern is we haven't played a decent side yet or is it we are just too good - i sense the latter.

How very dare you!  Not played a decent team? Remember Gods team were missing most of their best players when we met a few weeks ago. Now we have them back be ready for a proper battle when we get you back at the Crown Royal.

And of course we could do you a favour this weekend. All welcome.

He’s defence isn’t terrible, they’re are far worse in first grade then Pryce. He didn’t have the greatest game against Canterbury and made a few poor reads but it happens, and he will bounce back.

What I mean is that no SL players have respect from default. KPP had to prove himself in the NRL when he should have already had the reputation in aus as a top quality backrower. Every English player that comes to NRL is vastly underrated.

It would be impossible for some of those who signed with Titans to be underrated.

  9. The ground is owned by Rochdale FC. All money raised from use of the pitch (Dale gates, Hornets lease payments) go to Dale. The largest shareholder is about to be a local billionaire allegedly. Why should the local taxpayers be coughing up for this?

  10. Hasnt your second point always been the case though….I am not saying its right, but we have always managed to get enough folks to do the job in the past. Ive watched rugby league for nigh on 60 years and had a relative who was a touch judge. I dont think verbal abuse of officials is noticeably worse now than in years gone by. Whether they also get on line abuse is another matter.

SOO is, as far as I can tell, basically unique in world sport. The curse for us is that it exists in rugby league and rugby league only has two professional set-ups. And because that 'unique in world sport' outlier works in one, the other sometimes thinks it should work for it as well.

Its the NRL equivalent of the long gone cricket contest between Gentlemen and Players. Real hatred between the teams😊

    cheers

    Phil

I have lots of Rochdale Hornets programmes (home and away) pre 1960 going back as far as 1930s. However I am not looking at giving them away. Id be looking for ‘market prices’ if you were interested in buying.

Send me a personal message if you are interested in discussing.

  13. Glad the young woman performed well. The same cannot be said for Ms Badger who has been stood down after her terrible display in the Raiders v Titans game last week.
