I'm stunned whenever anyone tries to deny that point, although it is so obvious now that does seem to have calmed down.

I don't know what crowd Wire expect tonight, very few I expect, but an example of how little effort they've put in is in their comms. I've checked a few of their releases about this match, and they don't mention the prices. They simply give a link for tickets and say there are discounts for members. They did summarise the pricing 11 days ago just after the draw, but other than that no mention.

Yet they have actually reduced the prices - all adult tickets are £20 for anywhere in the ground, even main stand seats, or £15 for members. They should be shouting about the pricing, but it really feels like this game is an inconvenience tbh.

Yes, with Footy being on international break and England game in the evening it was a great opportunity to have a big push on marketing the cup games. Opportunity missed?

It’s a bit different when there are 50 states to accomodate. The NFL have 1.4 teams per state represented and are spread pretty well across the breadth of the country. The NRL on the other hand has 4 of 7 states/territories represented by 16 teams at 4 teams per state.

Australia’s 4th and 5th most populous cities are not represented in the NRL.

4 states covered? NSW, QLD, Victoria………Canberra is not a state…its a bus stop between Melbourne and Sydney. Tassie, Adelaide and WA not covered and neither is Northern Territory. So teams in only half the states and half the territories. Most northerly team is Cowboys, most westerly team is Melbourne. So the professional game covers about 20% of the country.

Good game fom Young, a try, a couple of assists and plenty of tackle busts.  Just one dropped high ball under no real pressure to blot the day.

No idea why Souths left Tom Burgess on the bench for the entire first half as he added much needed go forward for them when he came on - but the game was already gone.  Souths are a very poorly coached side.

They are poor on the field but the source of their problems lies off the field. Who is calling the shots?

Cian Tryer in as well from Oldham.

    Its Cian Tyrer…but he is a tryer😊

You wont be disappointed…he’s a good un. I was sorry to see him leave Rochdale for the dark side of Royton.

Right on both counts. The great man storming through for two tries...and massive areas of near-empty terracing at Wembley.

Lowe was a tremendous player and in many ways the prototype for some of the huge, fast back-rowers we saw from Australia in years to come.

Great footage and how about those kickers, Clawson and Langlands in the traditional style.

  6. Of course…i wasnt questioning that….but all others show their national flag as well as a cultural community/heritage flag ( Aboriginal, torres strait islands). Is this a political statement I wonder….if so would he feel the same if ever he was good enough to be considered for an Australian national team?

    He also said this:

"My thing that makes me the most nervous is the rule changes," he said. "I don't support it whatsoever. If someone wants to create a new version of rugby league then do that.

"Rugby league has already gone too far away from what rugby league was, in my opinion. In terms of what players want to play and in terms of what people want to watch. It's why we've got less people watching it and less companies wanting to broadcast it for less money. If people can't see that, then I don't know what's wrong. You've got to get back to what people want to watch, going back to gladiatorial type in the Roman ages, putting lions in with people"

Maybe he's thinking of going back to Leigh Centurions?

Dont know about leopards…..his thinking seems to be more related to dinosaurs

In response, I was at Gold Coast's very first game in 2006 at Suncorp when they selected as their opponent the "bottom feeder" club you mentioned. I will let others respond on that description of St George-Illawarra.

I have also seen the Gold Coast at Carrara and Robina and always with empty seats and sales of the oppositions gear at the ground outstripping that for the home team.

I have been on the Gold Coast last week, and saw no publicity for the Titans nor anyone wearing their shirt. It's  noticeable that when you go to Best and Less in Kippa Ring mall for example you see items for the Bronx, Dolphins and North Queensland Cowboys but diddly squat on the Titans.

You comment about an AFL game being a bigger draw than Rugby League for the Gold Coasr fanbase proves my point rather than yours.

The Titans are not the first time that the game has tried and failed to establish a team on the Gold Coast with its transient tourist population. With expansion back on the agenda, would it not be a good idea for the Titans to relocate to a real RL stronghold out west in Ipswich.

The Ipswich Titans, now that makes sense.

So what about the 20k average attendance last season?

Ipswich…….playing on a cricket ground? Maybe thats the plan given they now have adopted the jets as one of their QRL affiliates.

Not sure you understood the significance of the AFL game in question….one of the greatest coaches in history in charge of his first game for the suns against the team he took to be one of the best teams in history. The equivalent of Titans signing wayne bennet as coach and his first game being v Broncos.
