The Osmonds' version of 'Star Wars'. Donny as Luke, Marie as Leia and Kris Kristofferson as Han Solo, plus the other Osmonds as dancing stormtroopers.Oh, and it also includes a version of 'I want to take you higher' which replaces "Boom shaka-laka-laka" with (dear God!) "Chew bacca-bacca-bacca".

On the subject of Leslie West, back in 2011 he lost a lot of weight and also had a leg amputated, due to complications arising from diabetes. He announced a new tour 2 months after what turned out to be a life-threatening operation.
As you can see, he's a much slimmer man these days.

Yesterday my wife baked a dozen mince pies. Garnished with a piece of cheddar cheese I have just eaten the last one. Delicious.
You're making me hungry!

Futtocks is very knowledgeable about that sort of thing. He could probably point you in the direction of a very high quality vinyl rip.
I could... and it sounds fantastic!

They signed to KR after the 1995 RWC, and that was the first time either of them had seen snow, so the photo is from late 1995 or early 1996.
It was in Stanley's very funny autobiography 'Daydream Believer', if you're looking for a late Christmas present recommendation.

Mountain were a fine band. I always liked Leslie 'The Great Fatsby' West's playing and vocals.
Wonderful player, and the contrast between his vocals and those of Felix Pappalardi gave an extra dimension to the band's sound.
This, from the 'Night of the Guitar' film and album, was the very first time I heard Leslie play. He was really on form for this liver version with Derek Holt on vocals. I went out and bought 'Nantucket Sleighride' the same week.

This one's a bit more laid back. This live version adds a (recorded) choir, which really lifts the song to a new level.

Woke up this morning with this running through my head. Never heard it since they were on TotP when the single was released. It is amazing what random things pop out of the memory banks sometimes. If that sample is naggingly familiar, it is from the Gregory Peck Western 'The Big Country'.

Oh, I forgot to mention that Mystery Science Theater 3000 is coming back? New host, new Mads, new robot voices, new films.
The series creator Joel Hodgson has started a KickStarter project, which has already raised enough for 3 episodes.
The final target is a full 12 episode series and, hopefully, being picked up by a broadcaster/streamer for more.
The KickStarter finished last night. The most successfully crowdfunded TV/Film project in history! Second is nowhere, Veronica Mars!
There will be 14 episodes now, released some time in 2016 and I'm very happy. -
Someone just posted this on another forum. Very nice - I must check out their other songs.

Pigeon, mushroom and chestnut pie tonight. Proper Winter eating!

Getting close to the end of the KickStarter project. Guest stars have been announced, including Jack Black, Jerry Seinfeld and Mark Hamill.

I was listening only recently to the album Mick Ronson made with Ian Hunter. Bit of a mixed bag, but some good stuff. The album title (Y U I Orta) baffled me for a while, until I found out it was a tribute to the Three Stooges.
Here's the stand-out track (IMO).

Ken Dodd is still touring.
Still touring? He hasn't finished his first gig yet!

These modern-day "extreme sports" people are missing a trick...

Now this looks brilliant. Though I think I'd bottle out of walking across.
Oh boy, that's a long way down from a narrow walkway!

I watched the second half of that Doctor Who episode. Lots of nonsense and drawn-out agonising about WHAT IT ALL MEANS FOR THE UNIVERSE.But, then again, it did have Jenna-Louise Coleman in a Fifties-style waitress outfit. Ooh!

I have to warn you, once seen, this can never be unseen without significant and drastic brain surgery.

Johnny Flynn - Theme from 'Detectorists'.

The best thing on TV last year - and this year.
The music was excellent too. They've made a Christmas special episode - looking forward to it!
Hard to believe that this is from the same MacKenzie Crook who said yes to 'Sex Lives of the Potato Men'.

The London Evening Standard makes a late bid for headline of the year.

Detectorists: not quite convinced by the last episode of series 2 (no spoilers!), but overall, two series of downbeat excellence.

Or 'Loofah', as I tend to call it.
In other news, the 'Detectorists' Christmas Special is on the 23rd Dec at 10pm (BBC4).
