I think you're drawing bit of a long bow there based upon @audois post. All he said was what the crowds were between Catalan and Toulouse, at no stage did he say that Toulouse should be automatically in SL because of it, or that they should be ahead of someone like a Bradford based upon crowds. Just that the Catalan v Toulouse crowds were quite strong (in the context of the 2022 season) and imagine what they could grow to if it was a regular fixture.
Considering both matches (August 25 & April 14) were Thursday nights, and as others have pointed out, the two cities are over 200km apart, it's fair to speculate that if the match was on a Saturday or Sunday and it was a regular fixture, they could draw significantly more.
It's also fair to speculate, that considering how strong hospitality culture is in France for sporting event and how it has turned Catalans into one of the largest revenue generating clubs in SL, that potentially Toulouse, considering they are based in a bigger city, could also be a big earner.
None of those last two items were said in Audois' post, just other things to consider on the crowd side.
For me personally, I would love to see both Bradford & TO in SL because they both represent large population centres, have solid supporter bases now, and in the case of Bradford, was once a big club. SL lacks representation in big cities, both Bradford & Toulouse have around half a million in the main centre (Bradford 550K, Toulouse 470K) and then another million+ in the 'greater' region and have solid enough supporter bases to build from. Bradford honestly would be likely to be in SL next year if they moved from Odsal.
The local Toulouse paper La Dépeche only this week made the story that the city is now the 4th largess city in France and the bigger region too Occiticane is also the 4th big in the country and growing

Interesting the code with 5 Australians taking part four in Vegas (March 2nd) and the week before Wigan hosting Penrith (February 24th). Making a game for the world.

Any news on Avignon Gordon there were concerns about them yesterday from a couple of people.
Paul - they had a difficult start, one of Francis brothers was injured That lad was a star in the Carcassonne Championship victory win in Narbonne. The local lad Carre who plays centre was injured i think - they were missing him. He spent time with the Dragons U19's early on
-
Top v Bottom on the last of the A utumn programme Carcassonne at Villeneuve just one point better - The bottom team with out any wins but with 5 bonus ( not more than 12 points against) - feel in some way that all ten teams have done something OK

To me there's a change resently at the Dragons and even at TO. The Toulouse out fit nearly got the better of Lezignan the other week. Albi after too much taking 50 points but the Dragons reserves also took 49 points a week earlier. But after winning at FCL yesterday the Catalans are possibly looking up for a '6' place come the Spring. Le Cam now the captain after being let go - went off to rugby union at Cèret The year after the Dragons made him the captain of the Elite 1 team. Against Albi the other week he broke the visitors line for their only tries
Going on the game at Limoux the TO visitors were the better for most of the time up to 35 minutes or so. Noticed that the forward Skouadri looked out of steam after his visit to Kenya. In the Albi match earlier in Toulouse the other player of note was the threequarter Tropis with two break outs of note. There is talk that these two will be part of the TO Championship in 2024

Saw Pons playing for St-Gaudens against Limoux recently he's a young player who could do somethink

Kenya picked from 6 clubs includingone named Ruffians
I saw some of the match against South Africa & the Kenya centre looked handy
Was it France who had the idea of a World Cup in 1954 & I think his name (Barriere) was on the cup to this day

I forgot that Ille XIII club or a back-up for the Dragons reservers - thats why young Le Cam was playing there I think
If Carpentras finish in the 1st/2nd place along with Villefranche - it could see them back in Elite 1 two decades later!

ILLE XIII 31-26 Carpentras this afternoon
Interest that the home side had Audric Le Cam playing for them - I saw him playing for the Dragons reserve team at Carcassonne the other week
-
ILLE XIII (2nd) play Carpentras (3nd) this afternoon. Battle from the Catalans and the Provence. ILLE have been top team over the last few seasons - and have turned promotion down
At the moment Villefranche from the Aveyron area north of Albi are top - and might like the idea of promotion I imagine. Them and Carpentras were in Elite 1 ages ago.

Sam Tomkins will still stay at the club from next season to join the staff in a fairly generic role. He will be involved in the recruitment process and will help the Dragons in an ambassador role, including representing the Club at certain meetings and events. He will occasionally help the sports staff on specific training. He will also have an important role in the education of young players and in the development of the club's culture
Thanks for that

"Sam Tomkins restera quand même au club à partir de la saison prochaine pour rejoindre le staff dans un rôle assez générique. Il sera impliqué dans le processus de recrutement et aidera les Dragons dans un rôle d’ambassadeur, représentant notamment le Club à certaines réunions et évènements. Il aidera ponctuellement le staff sportif sur des entrainements spécifiques. Il aura également un rôle important dans l’éducation des jeunes joueurs et dans le développement de la culture du club."

The young one Samuel - captain of Marseille Olympique one of the biggest football teams in France. Was there Saturday at Avignon along with the Dragons captain Benjamin Garcia. The two captains did the kick-off together .Tony would have been chuffed !

I'm sorry, but I am struggling to understand what points you are making, or are you just talking about the team in general?
This year will be a drop off for Catalans with a lot of experienced players retiring/leaving, McNamara has done great getting them to perform aswell as they have for the last few years.
Unfortunately it is a choice of I guess choosing more young French players or winning more games. (I think that is some of what you are saying.. )
Yes you are - May/ Pearce have been in the half-backs since two years. Fages is interesting. Played as a young lad at Salford coming from Pia - went on to do great things Grand Final medals at Saints. He also captained France some years back World Cup in Australia. Here kind of linking young Rougé possibly making a break through in 2024 - maybe 2 local lads take up 2 Aussies
-
20 players have gone in 2022 & 2023 something other top teams seem to half
2O03 Young half-back Cesar Rougé played 7 games in SL last year with the 17 number
2O22 Played 5 with the 25 jumper
2021 Played 2 games with the 31 jumper the year after he left Limoux as a teenager
This year mixed up between the reserves, SL and a match at Hull KR
In October he played his last reserves match. I had a feel that the top people were looking at him
Is it poosible to join up with Théo Fages the newcommer - time will tell
With Tomkins retiring the full back shirt - could well see go to Mourgue permanent in 2024
Over the years the French forwards have been more sighted - see last season Garcia, Seguier, Bousquet and Navarrete
Four forwards then/ why then not see 4 backs in 2024
Last season - saw Romano number shirt 19 seen 21 times while Laguerre number shirt 4 in the centres with 6 run outs - Yaha was injured most of the time, played just 3 times but the wings are covered
Eight players/four forwards & four backs maybe....

- The Championship team isn't included here
- the U17 group has thirty youngsters
