  1. I don't think that ITV presenters are attached to the Met Office. According to Wikipedia, the BBC presenters are actually employed by the Met Office.

I don't think the weather forecast presentation has moved to Salford.

Probably because it's usually raining in Lancashire. The best you can hope for is dull and overcast.

    ;)

ITV weather forecasts supplied by the Met Office. Both BBC & ITV use a mix of genuine forecasters & presenters (don't get me started on some of their 'personalities' however as having worked with several . . . . . ).

FYI I'm ex Met. Office & my 'test' broadcast was for the weather in Lancashire ! (Think I was rejected as did forecast as a rap as was after a good lunch  )

  2. I watched the new Daybreak this morning.

Not much different from the old one, except: -

    - ITV has pinched Laura Tobin from the BBC to do the weather. They should never have got rid of Kirsty McCabe, she was brilliant.

In other words she's moved from one section of the Met Office to another. Perhaps she didn't fancy moving to Salford with BBC ? (FYI BBC forecasters used to be based at White City with ITV based at building on south bank near National Theatre).

  3. Which alleged rugby league loving "celebrities" have you only ever seen at rugby league events that entailed them getting freebies?

    Michael Parkinson

    Bernard Cribbins

    Duncan Preston

    Kevin Whateley

    Brian Glover

    Colin Welland

Would you like to tell me the freebies Colin Welland got at all those games at Chiswick Poly when he went to Fulham games there ?

IIRC all Brian Glover got for travelling up from Brighton where he was performing in a play to present the LARL trophy on finals day at East London was a drink from the committee.

  4. so what have we got so far.

To my original list I overlooked

    Darlington even though I was at the game;

    Boothferry Park

    Salford Fc, Moor Lane

    Thrum Hall

    Maine Road

    Elland Road

    Workington FC

When was Elland Road dog track used?

Any confirmation on Reading, was this the Madjeski or the old ground Elm Park

Did South Wales use Ebbw Vale

Thats over 130 now and I bet there are still more to come.

Most of these post date the grounds of rugby league book rather than predate it.

There seem to be few football league grounds not used in the heartlands, Burnley, Everton and Tranmere plus Accrington on the fringes are all in Lancashire. What about Stockport? everyone in Yorkshire ( unless you count Middlesbrough which would be a thread of it's own) has staged games

The Madejski was used for a World Cup game involving New Zealand in last WC played in UK. The Paul brothers appeared at a Reading football game to help promote it by performing their single !
