You said it was because Fev hadn't paid the players that Fev didn't get promotion .

I said it was a legitimate possibility that not being paid what they believed they were owed could have an impact.

The way to avoid that is to sort it out so you don't get chased for moneys owed.

There's only you saying it was an issue this time.

This entire thread is about Fev not paying people.

    Fev were also not promoted.

You can't say Fev tried to buy promotion when they missed out the paying for purchases part.

I think it's pretty fair to say that a set-up where people are not getting the money they expect will, eventually, turn into an unsuccessful set up.

So we didn't win promotion because we didn't pay the players?

Well, you didn't win promotion because of a spectacular loss of bottle when it counted. Maybe something in the players' minds meant the match didn't have their full focus.

No it's not, but it does feel like John Davidson is milking what is essentially one story (Fev defaulted on payments to players and agents with a serious allegation on pension payments thrown in, based on one player quote) for as many articles as he can. I don't particularly have a problem with that though.

But the silence from the RFL is deafening.

Rather like the Toronto players, I don’t have a problem with journalists using their platform to keep the non payment issue to the fore. But there should be some official response by now.

Is it? SL brings in more than the lions share.

This formula gives security to Championship/League 1 clubs if they bring in no money, but at the cost that any they do bring in is to be shared upwards too. Its a compromise they've had to go for given their meagre incomes over the past few years.

It is baffling because, given the amounts will always be small, it makes it essentially not worth the Championship’s time and effort in obtaining deals if 3/4 of it will be taken from them.

To be fair Sam, how many Championship games do you attend in enough numbers to make a fair comparison, from my expierience as a regular attendee both home and away the move from Sunday afternoon 3.00 kick offs to 20:00 Monday evenings was telling, how many would travel cross Pennine Monday's as opposed to Sunday's I didn't.

That’s why Monday evenings are specifically excluded from this deal.

It will be interesting to find out what the financial support is to make all grounds ‘broadcast ready’.

However, if the deal goes ahead and the income is spilt 78, 13, 9 split in favour of SL then simple math shows that each SL club would receive £3250 in year 1 rising to £6500 in year 3.  Surely, for an elite league these amounts are simply minuscule.

Here is a radical idea …. let the Championship clubs have the money!

Doesn't the 78/13/9 apply to the Sky deal? For this deal, all the money would go to the Championship clubs?

Surely the club can make him work for their foundation (do they have one?) for free, as part of club ordered community service though.

The club should punt him in the nuts and send him on his way. How's he going to pass a DBS for working for a foundation?

It's a good point. Maybe driving convictions are treated separately to other convictions. Not saying that should be the case, but it's the only reason I can think of.

Driving offences are treated differently to other offences when it comes to DBS, or what you have to declare to employers. That could be the reason.

Ageing like a kipper behind a radiator.

This is all so desperately depressing. I've been obsessed with this club since I was about 5. Can't remember a lower feeling than this.

And this is why this sort of behaviour stinks. The ones who allegedly did the things they are alleged to have done will get to walk away and probably move on to something decent. The club and the supporters of the club are the ones left to deal with the fallout.

As rubbish as that is, I'm not sure how one club seeking staff on a voluntary role has anything to do with another club not paying people that are contracted to receive a salary.

It’s poor from the Giants and speaks to how little money is in the game. But, you’re right, it’s not like taking multiple people on professional contracts and then simply not paying them.
