Is it true that only one insurer will cover the RFL?   If this is the case I guess and they're dictating the terms then we're stuffed and have to accept it.   What else can we do?

I mentioned it earlier, slightly in jest, but if the above is true then we really need to come up with some revolutionary thinking.   Can we get the NRL's insurers to cover us in some way?   Maybe the NRL could assist with the premiums as they seemingly want to get involved over here?   Other than that just make tackling the legs the only allowed method.

I'm not that hot on legal stuff (I'm not Zak Hardaker before you ask) so I'm not sure whether getting players to sign a waiver for 'accidental contact' would stand up in future cases?

What if they don’t want to sign it do you sack them.

If SL teams had an NRL budget (£6.4m) then the teams would look nothing like what they look like now!

That a good point you make. When making these hypothetical comparisons people generally just look at the starting 13 or 17 man, strongest line ups. Generally speaking, SL clubs depth is made up of young kids under the age of 21 who wouldn’t be anywhere near ready for 1st grade NRL. Depth is the biggest difference between the two competitions

Which is why in a one off game SL teams can be competitive but I don’t think that would transfer to a full season.

All circumstances are individual and subject to scrutiny of course

However...if someone is displaying threat to you then you can preemptively strike

Related to the Sau incident.....it is even easier to reduce

Sau's face was being grabbed/potentially eye gouged ....he had every reason to suspect the attack might end up blinding him .....in law he would abso- ****ing- lutely be entitled to do what he did

I'm speechless that some people don't get it

If Sau was being gouged and thought it might end with him losing his sight. Wouldn’t the first thing you’d do be to let go of the ball in order to free your hand up to defend yourself.

Obviously with no Wakefield we can't have the same set of fixtures but if we could I think that's certainly beatable. There is certainly scope for Leigh, Leeds and Cas to get more there. Also was the Hull derby really a capacity, the stadium holds a touch over 25k?

We need a year where Wigan and Hull fc and Leeds are at home on Easter weekend.

Another strange decision by the RFL especially not allowing players who don't wear the mouthguards back on to the pitch if they need a HIA. That has to fall around a restriction of trade or discrimination line hasn't it?

Surely this is no different from football insisting all players wear shin pads.

They're just 1.2 points short of being one of the gold-standard A-graded clubs. I think that says a lot more.

Is anyone suggesting that the A grade is  gold standard. I think it’s set at a level of the bare minimum that should be expected from professional clubs. The fact that so few can actually achieve it is more telling. I’m sure IMG would love to have 12/14 clubs reaching this so they can start cranking up the standards.

my beef is that we are forced by law to pay without choice to make these individuals very rich indeed

You are not forced by law to pay without choice. Don’t use it and you don’t have to pay. It’s like saying I am forced by law to pay for my shopping at Asda.
