I don’t think I’ve ever seen a penalty try given for an incident that is so far away from the line. And zero mention of any covering players. And no card. Literally making it up as they go along.
You generally don’t get a yellow with a penalty try anymore t’s usually one or the other

All circumstances are individual and subject to scrutiny of course
However...if someone is displaying threat to you then you can preemptively strike
Related to the Sau incident.....it is even easier to reduce
Sau's face was being grabbed/potentially eye gouged ....he had every reason to suspect the attack might end up blinding him .....in law he would abso- ****ing- lutely be entitled to do what he did
I'm speechless that some people don't get it
If Sau was being gouged and thought it might end with him losing his sight. Wouldn’t the first thing you’d do be to let go of the ball in order to free your hand up to defend yourself.

That's the same as the year quoted.
Yeah and we won’t get close to it unless we get a year like that again.

Obviously with no Wakefield we can't have the same set of fixtures but if we could I think that's certainly beatable. There is certainly scope for Leigh, Leeds and Cas to get more there. Also was the Hull derby really a capacity, the stadium holds a touch over 25k?
We need a year where Wigan and Hull fc and Leeds are at home on Easter weekend.

I don’t understand why this and the Catalan game are kicking off at the same time surely they could’ve been staggered.

Ideally a week after the grand final. If the WCC was in England have that a week after the Aussie grand final and have the winning Aussie team in the stadium watching to see who they will play. If the WCC is being held in Australia then do the reverse and have the SL team in the stadium. Would be great publicity and build up to the final.

Another strange decision by the RFL especially not allowing players who don't wear the mouthguards back on to the pitch if they need a HIA. That has to fall around a restriction of trade or discrimination line hasn't it?
Surely this is no different from football insisting all players wear shin pads.

They're just 1.2 points short of being one of the gold-standard A-graded clubs. I think that says a lot more.
Is anyone suggesting that the A grade is gold standard. I think it’s set at a level of the bare minimum that should be expected from professional clubs. The fact that so few can actually achieve it is more telling. I’m sure IMG would love to have 12/14 clubs reaching this so they can start cranking up the standards.

my beef is that we are forced by law to pay without choice to make these individuals very rich indeed
You are not forced by law to pay without choice. Don’t use it and you don’t have to pay. It’s like saying I am forced by law to pay for my shopping at Asda.

On my way out of St Helens town centre I saw a sparrow hawk eating a pigeon. What was unusual it was in a built up area and I only spotted it as I drove off because a man walking past it stopped to look which caught my attention. This man was less than a metre away from it and it didn’t flinch just carried on eating.

To say Ritson was poor last season is a joke, Wellens has several times given praise and he was offered a 2 yr deal to 2025 and option to extend to 2026 , a top club would not do that for a poor performance surely?
Interestingly with a new centre arriving, Hurrell and Bennison are in the reserves squad playing Swinton. Not sure how to read into that but it seems they both could be being considered back up players and non of the first choice 21 man squad players are being risked?
Bennison probably is back up but I’d imagine Hurrell needs the game time for fitness.

Is that for both teams or will we get a situation where the defending team plays the ball early and gives away a penalty but the attacking team does it and gives away a PTB.

Am I right in thinking Mark Chapman is also working for Sky now. Carney can’t be in the studio for every game so he could be an option for that too.

Yep I'll be paying for this
Why had it taken a year though?
It’s possible that the rights the Aussie tv and Sky hold for the games involved have either just expired or Saints have only now been able to negotiate the release of footage.

It was totally unexpected but one had to just take it on the chin. Saints were white hot on the day. Remember being told that players' cars were vandalised outside Central Park. Totally out of order if true.
That was an era where Saints were not quite good enough to win the big prizes but they could still do that to anyone. That was the start of a good side with Hunte and Connolly coming in and being good enough right from the off.

Probably wrong but I think St Helens massacred Wigan at Knowsley Road on this day in 1992? Saints wore a Coors shirt and the rest of it is a bit of a blur. Think Wigan scored first and then Saints scored for fun afterwards. J Monie said afterwards that if he could he would drop all 17 players.
Looking it up it was 41-6 which is some score line with the team Wigan had out.

Which is why in a one off game SL teams can be competitive but I don’t think that would transfer to a full season.
