  1. barring a couple of details to be confirmed it is quite simple.
  2. this is an interesting point. It hasnt been met with near-universal contempt. It has been voted in by plenty of clubs, including clubs who now look at risk of relegation. People often quote the fact that Scottish football voted against this kindof structure, but ignore the fact that the vast majority of clubs did actually vote yes for it. People against a proposal will generally be more vocal than those in favour, although Gary Hetherington gave as good as he got.
  3. It wasn't lengthy. Chocolate digestives. Done.
  4. Yep, i'd agree with that. I think there are certain things where clubs should work together for the greater good, and you could argue they already do with TV deals and sponsorship, but if I'm honest I think clubs should ahev to work hard to grow themselves to be big enough to be able to challenge. Nothing should be gifted.
  5. Dunno mate. If anybody is basing this on Tony Hannan's twitter account, they probably shouldn't, he is just cocking around about this subject.
  6. I said people. I would have said you if I was solely referring to you. There are a lot of people who are referring to a SL of 8 teams.
  7. 4 walking out would be futile, as a quorum of 10 Sl clubs is fine for a vote to go through.
  8. Nope. By keeping your points, this retains the element of seeding that is already in playoffs - naturally it has to be different as this is not knockout football. Either way, if this proposal goes through, at the start of the season there will be 12 teams in Super League with fixtures against each other home and away. Why are people happy to dismiss 23 games in favour of 7 games?
  9. Aye, at that point we start again from the beginning! Can't wait!
  10. I'm not sure you quoted my correct post for the response you gave, but yes I do agree with you. I really enjoy the business side of the sport and will happily engage in debate on this, and I am certainly not criticising people for that, but there are a lot of fans who seem to dislike the actual sport, never engage in any RL discussion and just seem pretty bloody miserable in general! I really miss the World Cup as the amount of positivity and love shown for the game was on a level I have possibly never seen.
  11. On your last line. I wish more people had that attitude. There are so many people that will dig their heels in and stubbornly refuse to embrace whatever decision is made. Licensing was never given a fair go, every time there was any bit of bad news, it was due to licensing. There were so many people grumbling, turning on Super League and basically acting like the games biggest enemy and I fear the same will happen here, meaning that we will need to reshuffle the deck in a few years.
  12. I think many actually do to be honest. I think some people get so wrapped up in these things that they actually forget that what we are actually talking about is a load of blokes throwing a Rugby ball about and strangely it is one of the most addictive and enjoyable things around!
  13. I'd argue that is a different thread. If people think a new structure will solve all our games money problems, they are as deluded as those who think this will kill the game.
  14. No, but none of it will ever be 'known' they need to be calculated risks. Some analysis on the repeat fixtures when we were at 12 teams would support the point I made I expect, but there will always be quirks due to the local derbies etc. The repeat fixtures is a potential issue, without question, but if I'm honest in the absence of more strong teams, repeat fixtures are probably the way to go.
  15. It's not true. RL is not a laughing stock because of this. Most people are not bothered. It's a point RL fans use when a decision goes against their thinking.
  16. The top 8 will all remove 4 games against the two weakest teams in the league and replace them with 7 games against top 8 teams. That is one way where more money will be brought into the equation.
  17. I think we agree. The other thing to look at is improving the standard and entertainment level of the lower division, which having more full time players should do should not be dismissed as unnecessary. IMHO we should be looking to improve the standard at all levels of the game. As you say, the stumbling block, as always, is funding.
  18. Do you not think it will raise the standard of the SL? I certainly think cutting two teams (and 4 games) and replacing them with games against teams at your level will make it more intense. I'd rather Wigan were playing the likes of Warrington, Leeds, Saints, Catalan etc than the bottom teams.
