  1. Not sure if this has already been stated, but this article states that ALL Championship and Championship 1 clubs are supportive of the RFL structure changes, with 8 SL clubs required to vote yes to get this in. http://www.yorkshirepost.co.uk/sport/rugby-league/all-clubs/super-league-needs-resolution-fast-pearson-1-6358884 Interesting comments from Steve Gill from Cas, who claims he has become bored of SL, and that his club have had an attitude of 'who cares'!
  2. yep - ive mentioned tgis in a different thread recently. Away games usually just get a mention in passing on club websites now. There was a push a few years back with the away club getting 10% of sales and obviously there's the junior season ticket which gives away tickets free but it all feels very half-hearted now.
  3. What percentage of Sky money has been wasted? When you say most I assume you have some kind of figure in mind. I have seen some fabulous players in Super League from overseas, I'm sure many others have enjoyed it, and maybe the likes of Robbie Paul, Trent Barrett, Matt King etc have actually enhanced the game and attracted fans, sponsors and viewers to the game. The money hasn't been wasted, the money was paid to allow Sky to televise an exciting league. The money was not all about developing the England team. In an ideal world every player in SL would be eligible for the England team and all would be world beaters, but that is a pipe dream. When I look at the facilities, crowds and entertainment on offer I don't agree that most of the money has been agreed at all. We could easily create a list of ###### overseas players, but likewise we could do the same with English lads.
  4. Not necessarily, if no away fans turned up at Warrington, we would potentially have a £250-300k hole in our budget. We have seen clubs go extinct based on that kind of black hole. All budgets are set on forecasts. How realistic they are, and how good your business is to achieve your forecasts are different things. Not factoring in income streams is not good forecasting.
  5. But banking only on Season Ticket sales will give you a rather low budget. Warrington's Season Ticket sales are probably around 3k lower than their average. Based on an average of £20 per customer this is almost £800k that you are not factoring in. Away support is probably worth around £250k of this.
  6. I think that is harsh. I know my club Warrington were very supportive of the World Cup and that must come from the top. I suspect that based on the success of the tournament there were plenty other supportive SL Chairmen.
  7. And this is why the game should not be run by the CEO's. Thaksfully many people see the bigger picture.
  8. Yep - so surely a league with more jeopardy (as it's being branded) will create much more importance around games. There will always be a couple of dead rubbers, but this structure would have fewer I expect.
  9. I don't think the issue is that players won't try, more that the games aren't that attractive to fans and partners.
  10. generally 8-12 pts max.I also think the point the teams may not try is nonsense. The games may be less attractive to fans, but this should be balanced out by them playing the bigger and better teams.
  11. I'm not sure this is an issue. If we look at the season just gone, after 22 rounds (not an exact comparison) the team in 8th were 9 points adrift of 4th. Now this may mean that it is difficult for them to make top 4 (I am assuming the top four would make the semi finals - I can't remember the details now!) but not impossible. Also, in the current format, London were 12 points behind the Top 8 this season meaning that they did have nothing to play for. Hull FC finised 8th, but they played in some decent games and took some points from the others in the 8.
  12. We have also seen plenty of basket cases running our SL clubs - letting the club leaders run the game just because they have money is the wrong thing to do.
  13. I like to purchase products from companies who support our game. I bloody love Irn Bru - but not sure I can support Laurent Perrier in the same way!!! Maybe a bottle if we win in the three big games!
  14. i find it staggering that squads are being put together without them playing a single trial game.
  15. What is RHP's business pedigree? These are multi-million pound businesses and I do think that CEO is possibly the most important role at a club these days.
  16. They should ask through the correct channels - not whining about it in public. Something which is becoming incredibly common from them nowadays.
  17. Jeez - same charge as Briers. Why didn't Thackray use his EGP and get no ban?
  18. is Warrington's turnover so high due to Moran?is it balls...
  19. probably more because they have more important things to focus on rather than focus on things people already know and claim it is news.
  20. Ultimately as well, what the hell do players know about marketing? Why would this question even be asked?
  21. Yep, tbh I don't have an issue with any of the media outlets that covered this, I am keen to understand what League13 are hoping to achieve with this. They have positioned this with the 75% of people interested in the NRL or RU. They knew this would be controversial and damaging, yet what were they looking to achieve? Were they trying to let the management know? I expect they already know, due to the fact that we have had players already leave, plus owners will probably get this thrown in front of them during every contract negotiation. Were they letting the RU know? That's a dangerous route to go down. This is a Rugby League players Union, it's a strange one, are they acting in their member's interests if they damage the game?
  22. I wonder why our Unions are not conducting surveys to find out if we think we should be paid more?
