Off-topic, but have you got any links that talks about some of the stuff they did in the early days? Sounds like an amazing journey but can only find info from more recently.

Not sure what Ivar sent you, but some nice pics here of those bygone Corinthian sporting days:

I don't want to de-rail the thread but it's just a bit of sporting history gone forever

Kurdi won’t be walking away from Union,he bought back the ground, invested in players and his money totally revamped the Falcons academy setup, its great he’s also invested in the RL side but it will be relatively small change compared to the money he’s put into the Falcons.

sounds like someone who isn't hung up on the league / union dichotomoy, someone who enjoys his rugby and can see a benefit from both codes utilising the facility. This is the future, good to see, hope they keep it up!

    Europa Cup draw

    Ajax v Young Boys

    Dynamo Kiev v Villareal

    Roma v Shaktar Donetsk

    Olympiakos v Arsenal

    Dinamo Zagreb v Tottenham

    Man Utd v AC Milan

    Slavia Prague v Rangers

    Granada v Molde

At least there's a bit of variety here, Champions League bores me to death.

Was disappointed by Arsenal's late winner last night and we'll probably end up with a final of usual suspects e.g. United v Arsenal

And to think the RFL gave Widnes the Cumbrian academy to run & develop, another outstanding piece of planning & forward thinking.

Logistics wise it probably wasn't a great idea. Why did it ever happen?

Surely they should have just invested directly in Cumbria? Or didn't they think there was sufficient management capability there.  100k in Cumbria? Surely Super League can see the benefit in that? Less than 10K per club

Interesting - You got a list of these players ?

TBH in the Saints team i'm struggling to think of any ? Percival was from Widnes but came through the Saints Academy, Similar with Lewis Dodd, he Signed with Saints Academy when he was about 14, though maybe he was at Widnes prior to that ??

    Dan Norman

obviously some of the players will be off the radar a bit

Neil Jukes is employed in part to assist in a coaching role, fact.

But as a Leigh fan I am totally in agreement that there seems to be to much money being spent behind the scenes when it is new bodies on the field that should be the primary requirement. Since being promoted to SL we have signed Lewis Tierney and been linked with Ben Barba nothing else has come out of the club.

To say this fan who has purchased a season ticket and the club has stated all season ticket sales will be spent on players saleries is disgruntled with proceedings would be an understatement.

Sounds like jobs for the boys, and as a Widnes fan with memories of the Rule Era, this strategy doesn't always work out and things could go pear shaped quickly down parsonage way

Thanks WLF for me nowadays its all about the match day crack and with the Broncos Ealing is perfect for crowds of 800/1000 (Rather like the days of friendly London RU clubs way back) I also like Richmond (Rugby is ######) but the club is really nice same goes for London Scottish. What I fear most is sitting in a soulless atmosphere surrounding by 8000 empty seats NO THANKS.

and not a decent beer or ale in sight

  8. As a Widnes fan I am coming round to the idea, indeed a strong hope of Leigh not finishing 12th next season, adding a bit of spice to the competition and shaking up some of the more complacent SL teams and their supporters who may feel a place at the top table and the Sky handout is theirs' by right
