As I've said it's mainly from people who haven't read the grading system, it's not actually that complicated.
I've read it. I also have it open now. Answer me a few questions, please. No fluff, just answers.
Context. It's the start of the 2025 season and let's say SL and the Championship have the same clubs and grades as per what we have now re league positions and grades.
Q1. What's the point of me supporting Fev?
If we win the Grand Final, we won't be promoted.
Q2. Will i be aware of what's needed from an off-field perspective to perhaps jump into 12th in the grading league?
Apparently not.. so i just sit in the dark as a fan not knowing how things are progressing, not only at my club, but of my traditional rivals and those just above me in the grading league.
Q3. When will i be made aware of this?
Start of season? Mid-Season? After the Grand-Final?
Q4. I'm a Chairman of Fev. How the hell do i attract players?

An assumption of folk on this forum is that we're all tragic fans. I'm a relatively clever and educated bloke and i'm just really confused; either i'm actually quite thick or this isn't clear. Next time i go for a pint i'm going to try and explain this to people who don't care one iota about RL and one bloke that really likes Liam Farrell. They'll be baffled.

Using your example.
The league position pts score is 3.259 no matter when the CC was won in the previous 3 years. If it was in year 3 you get an additional 0.25pts (3.509 total) but nothing if it was in year 1 or 2 (3.259 total)
2 minutes ago, Dave T said:It won't. It only counts for the current year.
Yet again, a hammer blow for the actual sport being played on the pitch.

OK.
You finish 6th, 7th and 10th in the last 3 years.
Points - 3.444, 3.333 and 3
3 Year Average: 3.259
If you win the CC in the last year, the average would be: 3.342
Are you saying that if you win the CC in the 1st year, that's somehow not counted? I wouldn't know how you would work out the average if it isn't.
Or... In the last example, the average just stays at 3.259 as the CC win now is irrelevant?
This would be absolutely terrible.

I don't think it does. It counts this year, but the bonus points only applied to trophies won in the current year. So the 0.25 points (i think) that would've been earned in 2022 for winning the Championship and 1895 cup won't be part of the score Leigh have been given this year.
OK.
You finish 6th, 7th and 10th in the last 3 years.

3 Year Average: 3.259

Winning a major trophy during the period should mean something though.
It means 0.25 points.

Yes, Leigh do look pretty vulnerable. It does seem strange that when it comes to next season's grades, Leigh's challenge cup win will count for nothing, but the attendances and league positions from previous years do count, and will hold them back. For example, I think it's impossible for Leigh to gain any extra points on attendances next year, while 2022 figures remain on record. Yet the bonus scores achieved in 2022 are long gone, as with the challenge cup win this year.
This whole thing seems a mess, and will lead to clubs scratching around for 0.1 point here and 0.2 there, instead of implementing an overall strategy across the club. Leigh will try to find a way to manufacture extra website visits and social media engagements, which as standalone metrics are absolutely meaningless when it comes to measuring the effectiveness of those channels.
The CC win will count towards their 3 year performance grade.

In all seriousness, on one hand transparency should be applauded, but a challenge here is that this really does become a league table that arguable many will see as more important than the real league tables.

So in theory London give up the season and win zero games but the system awards them more points than 2nd in the Champ with, say, 1 loss.
Feels punchy.
A single year's points. No.
12th receive 2.778 points.
Winner of champ would get 2.778 (presumably 13th as winner of the play offs) and then a bonus of 0.25 giving them a better performance.
However. Over 3 years....
It's too complicated!!

Does finishing bottom of SL with no wins and a record points difference gets more completion points than winning the championship?
I think you get a bonus for winning the champ, otherwise yes. Tracked over a 3 year period though, you could be awful in the Championship or even league 1 and then do a London.
It's too confusing and i ask the same question: when will a team and the fans, the really important fans, know what is required to be promoted / not relegated? At the start of the season? Mid? After?
-
Ultimately, we like RL because of what happens on the pitch.
I'm so very confused and i'm trying to work out my motivation to follow my club next year.
If Fev beat Bradford in the Grand Final and we somehow end up with 0.1 fewer points than the 12th team in SL or indeed Bradford, we won't be promoted. Also, and perhaps more importantly, when will we know what we need to do to be promoted? Will it before the season? After? It feels like a horrible drawn out version of VAR... can i celebrate or what?

Apologies if i'm missing something, but how was this announced? Why wasn't it in a proper conference and on the tele?
Sky Sports News has nothing..

Page 69. Teehee.
Anyway, Maxwell is 100 off 40 balls and it's barbaric.
ABD - 100 in 31 balls will take some beating

I've still got DOMS from Monday.
It's embarrassing

Would seem pretty much impossible to jump 12 places in 12 months, which begs the question. What's the point of a season in SL for London? Can't blame them for keeping players part time.
They could win SL next year and then be relegated.
It's not as though people were suggesting these things months ago.
Brexit means Brexit.

What are the chances of a 1 hour Question Time style programme on SKY to review all of this?
I'd watch it..

So looking at the gradings, if Cas are correct in what they say about being incorrectly docked half a point, if this was the system to determine the 12 SL teams for next season, Leigh would be relegated off the back of a Challenge cup win, a Super League play off place, and average crowds over 7,000. Whilst Wakefield stay up with London ranked 24th.
This does feel like something that is well intentioned, but ultimately counter productive.
That would be insania.

Bradford above Fev. By 1.5 points...!

As the Netherlands, Czech rep, Serbia Norway etc continue on their international journey this year. Scotland finally get a game on …… well at U16 and U19 level anyway. The lads travel to Ireland this weekend KO 1230 and 1500hrs respectively, Morton Stadium Dublin. At least our youngster are getting valuable game time
Brilliant.
Apologies if already asked and answered, but where do the young 'uns play? How many clubs / fixtures etc?
-
I'll tape them and then maybe get around to watching it. Still not watched the 1st test.
The venues are at least a 5 hour trip and I can't be bothered for a random standalone series.
As mentioned before, if they were in the calendar earlier as a proper event or even in a snazzier city, I could have made the effort. If the powers in charge can't be bothered, why should I?

1. I'm a Fev fan. It seemed a logical question to ask; why should anyone continue to support their team if what happens when you support them, ie the actual rugby appears not to matter. If people are fans of the sport for the sports sake rather than winning and competing at the highest level possible, what happens when you lose? Are you sad at all, even for a moment? What happens when it's the World Cup. Do you want England to win or are folk not bothered because it's sport innit. I'm not asking anyone to make any choices for me. Relax babez
2. It's not all to see. I don't have a breakdown. I have no real factual insight into how a grade has been attained. If only we had a league table that valued wins, points scored and conceded. That'd work.. How often is the new grading league table updated?
3. So, the grades are revealed after the GF. In this scenario, we go to Toulouse with a week's notice of a venue and win in the last minute. #scenes #limbs. Nah, don't be stupid... we have to fly home and wait for the announcement to 4 twitter journalists on a Wednesday morning who has the higher grade. It's a horrific version of VAR.
4. See the above. I feel for the players. Some want to be part time, most want to play at the highest level and play at a club with similar ambitions.
See above. People can make it a strange question by being flippant and that's fine.
Aye.
Yep. I like the principles behind this whole shenanigans, the implementation scares the hell out of me though and as a fan of actual sport it's just saddening.
