Double post.

Who's the statue of outside the Hallywell Jones? It was on the BBC today.
-
Its ridiculous that it doesnt. Not that the RFL will let Fev in SL anyway.
Obviously the Co-op Championship table topper should 'tick' the box but unfortunately I don't think Fev, 'Fax or Batley will get a licence in 2012 due to West Yorks...
-
What about over 50s 'Masters Rugby League'? Isn't that Touch Rugby?
-
Seriously bizzare. Claire Balding spoke about it at the end of the game.
-
Sounds like we did our best to chuck it away but would have taken that at kick off.
Attendance 983 according to Sporting life.
Having a 30 point lead and ending with 14 points in it, certainly sound like they tried their damnedest to trow it away.
-
Until they get on the pitch.
Why? What's going to happen on the pitch? Is someone going to take a dump on it?...
I think the Cumbria & NZ Maori games are fantastic news for RL.
-
Oh yeah! Thinking about it having unlimited tackles in Touch/Tag Rugby isn't really possible. Oops!
-
Don't worry Happy, you'll never have that problem.
Hey!! You may be bigger than me but you're certainly cruisin' for a', old man!
That was just mean man.
-
So the union version (roll the ball back without it touching the foot)is directly copied from Super League.....until the refs clamp down on it, that is.
Training Touch can reduce the risk of injuries in training. In Swindon there is a summer Tag Rugby 'League' but apparently play unlimited tackles & roll the ball between their legs (trying to emulate a 'ruck & maul'?) rather than PTB.
-
You gave up RL due to a new girlfriend?... Why oh why oh why??
-
Unless Quins sort out their financial situation, they'll be gone - as things stand at the moment, no David Hughes, no club.
The RFL have said that London is "too important" to them to let Quins 'fail' so Quins won't lose their licence. I think Salford or Cas are the most likely going on this season.
-
I voted Widnes & Fev...
Seeing as Sheffield have been is SL before; how many of the criteria do they currently meet?
I think Toulouse may get a licence in 2015 but if Barrow are to get a licence this time around then the RFL should ask them to change their insignia as it's even worse than Cas, Bradford & Wires. I think there badge looks like it belongs in US sports such as Basketball/American Football/Ice Hockey & doesn't belong in top flight UK sports.

Is there any chance we'll see some of the big names turnout for Wales, Ireland etc.
I think Ireland would be daft to leave the 'Irishman' Pat Richards out of their squad with his current form. He's a fantastic RL player but wouldn't his skill level be much higher than the rest of the Irish squad?

Great stuff! Keep it up! Really enjoying yours storied glad to hear how vibrant and the healthy the history of amateur RL and current Amateur RL Is/has been. What a wonderful sport we play, watch & enjoy.
One thing I'm still getting used to is how all my muscle fibres seem to be aching ('screaming'?/burning?) a few hours after a long hard game of RL. Great fun but it's certainly tough on the body.
-
Are you a player? A fan? Do you follow a local amateur team?
As I've mentioned before I'm a 29 year old, unfit, 15 stone bloke (at least a stone of which is just excess bodyfat) who's been playing mainly Second Row in his first ever season of either code of Rugby. I've really enjoyed it but have found the 3 games where I've played the full 80 bloody knackering, especially the 2 in June/July in the boiling weather & completely open pitches & on the back-foot for both games. Going to keep on playing as it's a damn good laugh but being so late into it I can see me lasting more than 4-5 seasons, if that, plus it could depend where I'm living in a few years time.
Thoughts, opinions & stuff about the amateur game (RLCs, Merits, BARLA, etc.). Discuss.

Oops! I didn't realise! Well, I think most people accept Lewis & Pieterson as 'English' (even if they don't realise Lennox is actually English). Where as the others, well...
-
Btw, I forgot that Lennox Lewis, Ruzeski (?), Pieterson & Hape are all English. ... Hang on!... No they're not! Oh! It seems loads of sports 'bend' the rules. Who'd have thunk it?...
I'm not saying it's right, as it's not, but still don't see how this is much different from other sports. Especcially when athletics used to 'fast track' citazenship?...
I just don't see why he needs him with The likes of Ellis, Burgess, Joel Tompkins, Ben Westwood & BJB available for selection.
-
Thanks for that. I was unaware that he had been played since the rep match and that did concern me a little.
On the question of his player rating in Oz and the fact that he could be FB for England, that I agree throws a very poor light on our strength in depth in our backs and, as importantly, possibly upon the aspect of the present coaches ability in his rating of a players abilities also!
Seeing as Sam Tomkins has been playing so well at FB for Wigan of late then I'd say Widdop has competition for first choice England FB at the G4N this year.

Happy Dave isn't your average person!
Shuttit!! At full fitness without any injuries I think I could last 2 minutes in an SL level game before getting smashed to kingdom-come.
In all fairness I do think some of the fittest Back an RLCN level could possibly last 10-15 mins in an SL level game but I don't know if we have any RLCN (or top level BARLA/NCL?) players on this forum.
-
How do you know? You don't...it's all supposition. We know there were hard cases in RL then, just as there is now.
Apparently the likes of Morley & Senior are pussycats compared to 70s & 80s RL players... Yeah, right!
There may be less biff or dirty players as there used to be but the physicallity of top level/elite Rugby League these days is brutal. Some people say the hits in the NRL are much bigger that SL but I don't think any of us would last 20 minutes in an SL game.
-
I was thinking of asking the same things on here other day. But is there enough money to do Theme Rounds in the SL?

Silverwood, Child, Ganson, Bentham, etc?

I'm going to try to remain neutral but I think if they play the form the were in today Wires will be to good for Leeds & win by 4-6 points. Although I don't think either team will get over 30 points.
