  1. Why don't they use the Crusaders model? (OK, it's hardly a model, but here me out...)

Move the franchise to another ground, and leave a semi-pro club in its wake. So if they move to Oxford, than Harlequins Rugby League could start again like South Wales Scorpions and build from there. It's a way to keep the interest that was generated (however small) and if there is potential, then no doubt it can grow from there.

There doesn't need to be a pro club in London IMO. There needs to be one in the south to take advantage of the player development going on there, but it doesn't have to necessarily be IN London.

I am getting the feeling that this may be the likely scenario. I hope not as I live not that far from the stoop. Maybe if they are going to move from the stoop they could move to a smaller football stadium in London?

  2. I think the france vs wales games in years to come are going to be crackers and we should push each others development and hopefully play each other at every level generating intense rivalries. I think it will do france the world of good to have wales pushing them rather then them getting a shot at the big boys by default. Make them work for it and they are better prepared to step up, at least to a degree.

A regularly competitive wales and france and you watch the international game go! So frustratingly close. I hope we make it and the heartland naysayers can see just how important that would be to the health of the game long term. Imagine an international game where wales, france, png, england, australia and nz were on realitvely equal terms! Everything done to bring that about is worth it imo.

I totally agree. It was during the 1995 World Cup that i first began to truly appreciate league and Wales played a big part in what made it an exiting competition.

  3. I've said it before and I'll say it again. Until we, as a game, are prepared to risk no television coverage at all, we are doomed to live off the scraps the broadcasters throw us. Like dogs under the table, we are. We need to grow some balls, tell Sky to shove it where the sun don't shine and retrench back to the M62 and semi-professional if we must. It's not a great scenario, but we were only ever a sideshow for Sky. They wanted pay TV control of Australia. They used us. We owe them nothing!

What would be the advantage of that?
