  1. Yes but they will be 1mm infront of the defender, ie daylight, unfair advantage. Not now where we punish for being practically fully inline with defender
  2. It'd make a huge difference. Right now, you have to be completely behind the defender to be on side. I'm suggesting that the any part of the foot just needs to be in line with defender to be onside. This week alone, it would've resulted in 3 goals being scored that were called offside that I saw. One of them took 3 minutes for VAR to decide it was offside, because the attacker was 1mm infront of defender. The benefit should go to the attacking team. The point of offside rule wasn't to punish the attacking team. It was to stop cherrypicking. Being 1mm offside doesn't constitute cherrypicking.
  3. Vomit inducing opinion from guardian on womens football vs cricket https://www.theguardian.com/football/2019/jun/10/womens-world-cup-match-breaks-tv-audience-record I guess whenever 6 nattions is on, RU becomes the nation’s most popular sport.
  4. Commiserations. Theres always next year. With tavares, marner and matthews, youd figure theyd make it past the 1st round one day. But hey, as it turns out, a 4-3 loss to the to-be newly crowned stanley cup champs doesnt look so bad now!
  5. Big fan of ice hockey. Flames fan since the early days of Iginla.
  6. Back on topic It’s time for ifab to change offside law. If any part of foot is in line with defender it should be onside.
  7. Fan of the Jets going back to the Chad Pennington days
  8. 77 articles on the WWC since June 1 on the Guardian. Go tally up the rugby league articles since June 1 2018., let alone the last RLWC...
  9. Not endangered at all. Plenty of us everywhere last I looked. Not at all, big fan of the NFL.
  10. What concerns? I have no concerns about womens football getting the coverage it gets. I know fully why it’s getting its coverage, and it has little to do with clicks. Edit: And of course the Rooney Rule is more PC nonsense. But what annoys me most about it is that British reporters have adopted a name for it straight from gridiron. The Rooney Rule...named after..uh, Wayne? Mick? Oh, some nobody no Brit would recognise. Brill. And remember folks, in his own words, Sol Campbell is the best mind in football. Just needs to be given the keys to the Bernebeu to show us.
  11. If in doubt, go look at the coverage on the Guardian of the tournament. It’s positively absurd. There are agendas to push here. To hell with actual demand or interest.
  12. Womens sport gets a free pass cos, you know. And also because few are watching. This was supposed to be the biggest World Cup, but current average of 18,500 is well down on previous one in Germany that had 26,000.
  13. No one is biting because they’re all embarrassed and have nothing to come back with because all Ive used are facts. Liverpool are losers and their wait for a title now stretches to 30 years. Their fawning over Klopp highlights what a loser’s mentality has enveloped that club.
  14. Klopp is 0/3 in european finals. A serial winner this lad.
  15. Ok. The game is played to win things. Maureen got sacked after 2.5 years with a 2nd place finish and 3 trophies. Klopp still in a job after 4 years with a 2nd place finish and nothing to show for it. In time no one will remember this. Just like no one cares about how close Benitez and Rodgers got.
  16. So good he has 0 trophies in 4 years. At successful clubs, that’d get you the sack.
  17. Bill Shankly said... If you are first you are first, if you are second you are nothing. The Liverpool fans trying to convince everyone they are satisfied with their second place are totally delusional, and it goes to show how three decades of losing affects the mind for the worse. Thank you City for sparing the nation from the most insufferable fanbase in the world. Our thoughts and prayers are now with the Spuds.
  18. And they’ve sold out their allocation. https://www.mancity.com/news/tickets-and-travel/tickets-and-travel/2019/may/fa-cup-final-man-city-watford-sold-out-tickets-news-details Looks like City have more fans than season ticket holders. Maybe that makes a massive club.
  19. That’s three posts in a row using the word embarrassing. Im no fan of City, but some perspective wouldnt go astray. Man City fans had to go to Wembley at the start of the season for the Community Shield. They went to Wembley in the league. They went to Wembley in the FA Cup semi. They went to Wembley in the League cup final. And theyll be going to Wembley in the FA cup final. 5 trips to Wembley in a season. 13 additional trips to London or further south. A trip to Ukraine, France, and twice to Germany. And their home attendance is more or less full most matchdays. For a club whose success is recent, and which hasnt spawned a major following in London like United, and all the wealthy casuals that attracts, I think we can cut them some slack. Their fans are paying through the nose to follow their team compared to 10 years ago. I suspect their allocation will be filled. But even if it wasnt, hardly embarrassing all things considered. I wonder how the Rhinos support would look after the 18th trip to London in a season.
  20. Considering he left at the end of last season, not much of a hot take there. And yet they could still qualify by winning the europa league.
  21. Again...in England, for Englishmen. Little Englanders confer their experiences to mean that the rest of the world felt that way about international games as well (I'm not referring to tournaments here, but qualification/friendlies). The Nations League reinvigorated interest in international football outside tournaments in England. It's highly likely that the French and Germans enjoy the the Nations League more than friendlies, but interest in international football of any kind in those countries wasn't lagging prior to the NL. They never had trouble at the gates nor with media/fan interest. To imply it has reinvigorated intl football outside of England is to ignore the reality prior to the introduction of the NL. A reality in which, for most countries around the globe, the national team is the most important footballing institution.
  22. Anyone that does is only doing so because the concept is new. But look at the teams being fielded. They're first teamers. Friendlies had wholesale changes throughout. NL only three subs and teams making substitutions in line with competitive matches. ...in England and perhaps the broader British Isles. International football, outside of the British Isles, is in most cases the most important type of football, and has been for a long time. But Little Englanders like to think that their perceptions of intl football are shared broadly across the world, which couldn't be further from the truth.
  23. Dont need to wait for his response. I dunno how payouts early on work, but that is very, very, very solid. The Chelsea one you have down no question. Leeds wont get automatic promotion, but will be one of four teams vying for it through playoffs. To be honest, this might be what trips you up. Leeds are for mine the best of the lot, but these playoffs have a tendency not to promote the most deserving team. sheffield and doncaster both topping the league, but with 8 games to go, their leads arent sufficient enough to say it is cast iron. Still, both look good at the moment. Man Utd, outside of Lyon, are clear favourites for EL. I think this will happen. Barcelona are just as likely to win UCL. But...unlike EL....there are a lot of good teams left. This one is a toss up. Real, Atletico, Bayern and even Barcas QF opponent Juventus could easily topple Barca. Bascially, you have a good bet you have to feel very good about right now. But i cant see any bookie oaying out early based on what remains. Leeds and Barca still have much work to do before any bookie would start panicking I think.
  24. I don't think so, but it doesn't matter. A conservative audience of 10-20m is a big deal considering how few sports events get anywhere near that.
