Well, that was a fairly nasty day at our latest venue. After going in 16-6 up at half time and looking reasonably comfortable, the Cru promptly imploded in the second half leaking four tries with only a consolation one right on the whistle (second game in a row with apparently no timekeeper). What was particularly depressing was the inability to change tactics when it was obvious that our standard scheme of just bludgeoning down the middle using our biggest forwards and hoping that the opposition cracks had been worked out by Hunslet - surely there's a plan 'B'!

I though we stopped looking after the ball and trying to force passes or offloads that weren't on....Whatever happened we certainly weren't at the races in the second half and Hunslet had a comfortable win in the end.

League 1 now looks like two distinct halfs --- and were in the bottom bit!

Is it worth booking hotel in Colwyn Bay for the Doncaster game?

Sorry to be a pest but a weekend there is as close as I can manage to a summer hol 🙂

I'd love to say "yes" with some certainty but unfortunately they way things have been going at Eirias Park I can't do that. All I can say is our next 3 games will be in Chester RUFC. The pitch at Eirias Park looked finished when I went to watch the Womens game on 11th June...and was supposed to be signed off on Wednesday 14th for insurance purposes. I'm not really sure what the hold-up is. Its very frustrating for home and away fans and even more so for our Directors having to find alternative venues after being promised so much by Eirias Park and Conwy Council.

  3. Once again Eirias Park has broken its promise to the club to have the stadium sorted. I was at Eirias Park last weekend for our first womens game and the pitch looked ready appart from clearing some building materials and fencing. I sence we are being messed about. Our Directors are working overtime to get games on at alternative venues and our fans are completely frustrated.

The game will be played at Clwb Rygbi Nant Conwy, Pant-y-Carw, Llanrwst LL26 0PW

Cru v Hurricanes I understand is being played in Llanrwst, so check the Cru website before travelling.

    Oh, and we'll win 😄

Oldham, Dewsbury, Doncaster. Out of curiosity, Gogledd, has it been confirmed that the ground will be ready for our game against Midlands a week on Sunday?

Nothing confirmed yet. I think the the Club, after being promised two weeks ago that Eirias Park would be ready and then being let down, are reluctant to confirm anything in case it doesn't happen. Thats my best guess.

  6. Please note. North Wales v Workington Town has been postponed due to the pitch at Eiria Park not being finished in tome for our first home game since March! Bitterly disappointing for both sets of supporters.

Also note. North Wales Crusaders play their first ever game at 1pm on the 4G pitch behind Eirias Park....before anyone asks, this was deemed not to meet RFL minimum standards for League 1.

...so We'll have another home game, away from home vs Workington in July.

I said a few weeks ago that the final league positions already looked to be in place after only a few games. The only team looking likely to climb the table are Crusaders. Top 3 and bottom 3 are locked in already.

Saying that with it being so predicatable it's not worth betting. Be lucky to get evens on a 4 team accumulator

A bit of an odd season for us. We finished 3rd in the league last season and got knocked out in the playoffs. We lost some experienced players to Championship clubs or retirement, so this year was a relatively new team. We've played all the top teams and lost. We've only really had one proper home game all season (We played Dewsbury at 'home' in Widnes) and now after being promised Eirias park would be ready for 11th June, we've been let down by the stadium not finishing the work on time. Add to that a list of 13 injuries during our first 6 game, we've done well to win 3 on the bounce!

  8. A real frustration for both sets of fans. We were told not two weeks ago that work on the stadium was on schedule and the pitch would be ready for our first home fixture since March!

The postponement means we lose out on revenue and our fans miss out on a home game, due to the stadium not meeting our expectations.

It must be frustrating for Town fans too; particularly if you had booked accommodation in the Colwyn Bay area.

If you are in Colwyn Bay, our womens team play their very first ever fixture at 13:00 on the 4G pitch at the rear of Eirias Park - and yes. the Club did ask if we could play the League 1 fixture there, but it doesn't meet RLF minimum standards.

Agree on the investment. Here in Wales the RU game is ta king a hammering at all levels. The lads at Academy level are all leaving for England which ishaving an impact on the places for English kids already there. A proper serious investor for a S Wales club right now could do a lot worse….

Totally agree. The WRU are having all sorts of problems including investigations of a toxic culture. The regional team are in meltdown and the National team has lost 4 of its most experienced players this month!  Players could be looking for a fresh break; a good RL leader, and some progressive investors in Cardiff or Swansea could reap the benefits.

I have.even went to Toulouse, n Toronto n Scorpions a few years back, so from what I have seen from a playing standard, top NCL teams would beat the afore mentioned teams, not criticising the commitment of the people  n volunteers who run them, its about standard

If thats the case why aren't 'top NCL' teams trying to get League 1 status? The League could do with a couple of more teams in any case to make the season financially viable for the current teams involved.

This is a very negative post, But why don't Skolars. Hurricanes n Cornwall give it up. Any true league fans know they will always be the whipping boys. Take the rose tinted glasses of n folks be realistic

Why not get out to those clubs and see for yourself. I've just come back from Cornwall and had a fantastic welcome.... and that was exactly the same at Hurricanes last weekend and I expect it will be the same at Skolars next weekend. Those clubs are incredibly hard working and keeping Rugby League alive and well in Cornwall, Birmingham and London.

  13. Hi All

Just returned from Cornwall RLFC so heres the #cru4mnda update

Vital Statistics: in the last 5 days I've cycled 582.3km and ascended 6874 meters - that's as near as climbing Aconcagua in Argentina, the hugest mountain in the southern hemisphere! Average speed 18.2km/H
Powys/Shropshire has some big hills in the middle
Between Hay-on-Wye and Capel-y-Ffin is the black mountain. Someone stuck a 14% climb out of Usk
    Devon is very hilly
    Cornwall is very, very hilly!
I've received nothing but support from the Rugby League community. Its absolutely brilliant.....

That got to be worth a couple of quid for MNDA!

Fantastic support for my fundraising from Midlands Hurricanes and the Birmingham and Solihull MNDA voluteers at the Alexander Arena yesterday. I haven't had the ammount raised by the bucket collection yet but my Just Giving page increased by £260 and I was also given £36.20 in cash. I'll post the full ammount once its finalised.

I start heading to Cornwall on Tuesday. Keep following this thread!

EDIT: £150.00 collected in the MNDA buckets - again thanks to all the supporters who donated.
