  1. He would. Farrell is pretty much always among the top tacklers and the top metres makers. He was our best metre making forward last week but because his tries have dried up and he doesn't make those line breaks people say he offers nothing. He's only scoring 4 or 5 tries a season now when it used to be around 10 or more but that's still pretty much what you'd expect for a back rower. He's giving us more than Isa did throughout pretty much all of his career and he was pretty much always in the team.
  2. He's been fine. Not as good as he used to be but the talk of his decline is exeggerated. Still makes metres, still gets through a huge amount of work, just doesn't have the pace he used to. He's had his defensive issues this year but he was also playing with a knock earlier in the year.
  3. Keighran is far too focused on who he wants to line up for a hit and not at all concerned about effective sliding defence.
  4. Great halfback play from Smith. Put that line break on a plate for Keighran. We're always more dangerous from distance.
  5. Cas looking much the better side in the opening quarter of an hour and deservedly lead. Wigan just looking lethargic and lacking ideas. Adam Keighran is making a habit of jumping out the line and hitting the wrong man. 3 tries in 3 games than can be attributed to his misreads and unwillingness to slide in defence.
  6. Didn't watch live but hoping to catch up on Biffy Clyro's set tonight. There haven't been many acts that I've been interested in watching in recent years but Biffy usually put on a good show. There aren't enough heavy bands across the whole lineup sadly but I would LOVE to see Sleep Token at Glastonbury. I don't know how likely it is they'd headline the main stage. Wouldn't surprise me if they headline the other stage pretty soon though.
  7. Wakefield were spirited, energetic and really committed in defence. I had a feeling that was going to be enough tonight given you're guaranteed to score tries against Wigan when we're playing like this. Well played Wakey.
  8. In his mind Adam Keighran has never made a mistake in his life, but I think every single challenge he's insisted on has been unsuccessful.
  9. That's a shocking penalty call. There's no escort at all. Am I right in thinking you can't make a captain's challenge on calls of foul play?
  10. Just what we needed, but Wakefield were the architects of their own downfall there. Some silly penalties to concede. French and Keighran really in sync.
  11. Another soft try. Nsemba seemed to get jumpy in defence and pushed too narrow and left a gift of a gap between himself and Smith for Lino to thread that kick through. Wigan haven't looked threatening at all though, which will be reassuring for Wakefield. We don't look like we can score one try nevermind the two to pull this back.
  12. Exactly as I predicted earlier. Incredibly soft try conceded despite dominating possession. It's like we can only focus on one aspect of the game so completely switch off defensively when we have plenty of the ball.
  13. Wigan should have more than enough to win tonight with the players Wakefield have missing but sometimes I think we play better against stronger sides. Sometimes there seems to be a lack of focus when we're heavily favoured. There's plenty of ressurance for Wakey fans expecting a drubbing given the way our form has been recently. Even when battering a shambolic Catalans side we were a bit out of sorts. Wigan also have a habit of conceding some of the softest tries imaginable, particularly when we've dominated territory. It's like the players focus more when they believe it's a real contest and we're up against a team that can put us under heavy pressure. If we win I think it will only be by a small margin, but I'm never confident when we play at Wakey as it's a ground we've struggled at plenty of times in the past. Even with players out there won't be a lack of effort.
  14. Wakefield perhaps on the unfair end of the green card rule defending with a man down, but their own indiscipline kept Leigh on their line for longer than was necessary.
  15. How did Jack Farrimond get man of the match? He got 2 tries through support play but his defence was utterly atrocious
  16. Bit of Jai Field magic from a half break and Wigan are back in it, but given how lacklustre we've been in attack I doubt we'll get another in the next 6 minutes
  17. A bit of a mad moment from Powell. His team is in the lead and then he loses his head
  18. He had to stop them because they tapped it before he could get the whistle to his mouth.
  19. I don't know whether he was trying to pick it up because he thought he could get out of the in goal or whether he was thinking of trying to knock it dead, but players not grounding the ball in their own in goal is the dumbest thing in rugby league and has been for years.
  20. Huddersfield well deserving of the lead. They are playing a fairly simple game and probably would have been further ahead had they not started the game a little error prone. Wigan are trying to play expansive on a smaller pitch and it's inevitable that the space won't be there unless we do the right thing down the middle. Once Havard went off our middles dropped off the pace and we've struggled to get going and to contain Huddersfield's forwards. I've seen this kind of performance from Wigan quite a few times and I'm not optimistic that it improves. Usually we struggle to get back into the right mindset having thrown it out the window early on in the first half.
  21. Garcia far too experienced to be losing his head like that. I thought the sin bin for Maria was harsh given what players got away with last week but can't exactly have any complaints there. Even if Minchella did go down a little easy after the first swipe.
  22. The first point is an important one. I think sometimes people say 'this team didn't deserve to lose' but given you know the aim of the game from the start and that it's all about scoring more points than your opponents I don't think a team can be feeling sorry for themselves when they lose a tight game like that. It's a harsh moment for Lindop and hopefully it doesn't play on his mind too much. He's clearly got bags of talent and a bright future ahead of him. As a Saints fan I don't have to remind you about a certain Bevan French making a costly mistake in a big game. Things haven't turned out too badly for him since then. The perfect example of anybody being capable of making a crucial mistake in a big game. As for the grounding, regardless of what part of the body grounds the ball it has to be deemed as deliberate. If that wasn't the case then even picking the ball up from the in-goal could technically be classed as grounding if pressure is applied before lifting it up. An accidental slip would also count as being grounded. So since Lindop was trying to bat the ball dead and rolled over it because he missed it can't possibly be counted as a deliberate grounding.
