Huddersfield have started winning under licencing they were always bottom before that you are missing that the guarantee of top flight helped them assemble a mostly homegrown squad and plan long term.....

so how much does mcmanus put in? Not a lot, also warrington make a profit, they only made a loss as they invested 2mill on the stadia which should lead to long term profit. .. there are 8 clubs who can operate at the required level and the facilities and structures are in place because of licensing!

Whilst I agree with everything there can I point out that if hull kr finished in the 8 it is impossible for them to kick them out of the 8! Long term hull kr are a better prospect than hull due to them owning their own stadia. ..additionally the arguement that if hull kr dropped out the league hull fc would prosper is logically reversed if hull fc dropped out the league. ..... I will state though that long term it would be best just to have 1 hull club in SL......for now the fight is interesting......

the thing is they do have the players for 24 fully pro teams...the problem is lads want to play fully pro but are then released. ...they aren't good enough for the top level but can't stay pro as you could in soccer.....Some play semi pro.....and loose a bit as they aren't training full time, some walk away all together. .... the problem as always is funding!

there is magic weekend. .. which will make 23 games there is also a top 4 playoff in SL.....

maybe the broncos will drop to CC1 with that barnet character as owner...... toulouse straight into SL as replacement. ..... somethings going on as they are only making plans for one year....and that bloke made noises of ownership. ....

I will be reserving judgement and see how it all pans out..... I don't think it will work but I am not daft enough to be pig headed and say its a doomed system. ....there is no real comparison and therefore is a new experience for all.....its now upto the people who wanted this to make it a success. ....good luck and as always it will be an event full ride!!

I agree they could put time and effort into marketing and other neglected areas..... It would work if all clubs could pay full cap.......The academys dont even need to be attatched to any SL club....Wigans academy could be for a whole area and play out of leigh??, Leeds area play out of Hunslet? Hull area play out of HKR (RL owned ground) etc.......

If the RFL ran the academys it would be down to the RFL to decide which areas needed more attention!!! Clubs wouldnt need to invest in the academys saving money...... The funding would come from the TV deal......in theory the clubs wouldnt miss this as they were spending it anyways.....

If the RFL took over the running of all academy's they could distribute the new talent as they wished.....all the clubs would have to do is guarantee full salary cap...... It works in the US an they do have an even comp with different teams winning each year......

Just a thought. ..... when you buy a ST its to watch for entertainment and as a hobby....you dont expect a return for your money or to make a profit.... when a rich person buys a club it will be as a hobby plaything to entertain them....why is he expectex to make money or make a profit?? They want the same as the fans....a successful club.....

its a separate discussion regarding funding, what I am pointing out is the the current money the SL gets is only enough for 12 clubs (according to the powers that be) if you shrink it to 12 but used the money saved to fund something else (doesnt matter what) then the situation hasnt changed, the number would be 12 but each club would be no better off than when there were 14 clubs.... my point is that if you wanted to impose your plan to free up SL money you would need to cut the SL to ten to have a positive impact on SL.....

I remember when NRL clubs put 40 -80 points on SL clubs... Now the games are much closer with victories for both sides..... OH and didn't you watch the championship champions play the worst team in SL.... wasn't very close was it?

I thought the idea was to give this money to SL clubs as stretching that money over 14 leaves clubs short..... for what you suggest it would be the same for the top 12 as it is now.........

football is now televised right down to the conference levels, Union has a TV deal for their second division. ....the driving force IMO is that they have pro teams at those levels, dont get me wrong I am not saying take money from SL to fund this, I would however like to see players who miss the cut pursue a pro career at a lower level, how this is funded is the big question. .....
