Sat 12th Nov: RLWC SF: England v Samoa KO 14:30
yipyee replied to John Drake's topic in The General Rugby League Forum
They are just not that good. Last time excuse of half baked but it is a nonesense, so were England and they bombed 2 early tries with knock ons over the line. Samoa will be the same players and they got smashed last time. PNG thought they would get close and got smashed. Tonga should have lost to PNG and Samoa were lucky to beat Tonga. This England side is on another level to these arrogant aussies in samoa disguise. Let's face it if they were as good as they think they are they would be playing for Australia. -
F1 - aussie response we aren't any good at it so we pretend its not a sport and doesn't exsist

No 13s playing 6 or 11/12 playing 3 or 4
yipyee replied to IM2's topic in The General Rugby League Forum
Agree, we were always going to win the game, its the comments that he's good to start there in proper games... he is not, he should probably be in the knights squad but because he plays for Wigan..... -

Worlds best team?! Is that your opinion, Australia vs another tend to be not well supported in the UK
-
Every game at saints the camera faces the North stand, saints fans pay extra to sit in the middle gold and silver seats, around 25ish a ticket, the edges (bronze) are usually empty. Where as at the world the bronze seats at the edge at 25 s ticket where full with the middle at 40-80 a ticket empty. This shows what price range RL fans at st helens will pay. In reality if the prices matched the saints prices then they may have sold out the Tonga games!

Half the knock ons are not even knock ons. The England one last week where it hit his shoulder and bounced behind to an England player was never a knock on. It seems now if you drop a ball its a knock on. Is it not still OK to drop it backwards?!

Ireland's Aussies being sent home early
yipyee replied to Number 16's topic in The General Rugby League Forum
Well they are playing to win a world cup not for me... I then make a choice of how to spend my disposable income which has shrunk drastically in the last few months. Should I watch the game on TV or spend 200 quid I don't have watching a one sided game. -

I am saying it was marketed as from 2.20 a ticket (or similar) I am also saying that the cheap seats should have been cheap. 80 quid for some games is bonkers. Plus whilst you mention a pint of larger how many pints sells to the empty seat vs how many pints sells to an occupied seat. -

The worst seats in all the stadiums should have been a fiver each, then after that slowly graduated prices to the best seats. The 5er would get people in, but they would still get the bigger ticket sales. As it is tickets start from 25 quid. That is more than SL prices to see a forgone conclusion. The ceremonies around the games are poor and could be a draw within themselves if done properly. -

110-0 Tommy to get a WC record points haul -
Not really, if you are in a harder group you only need to win 1 game, if your in an easy group you need to win all 3.

After watching a few more games I went back and reviewed the last world cup. This was a 14 team world cup and Scotland was in a strong group. They got beat 74-6 (i think) off NZ. However the structure was 2 x 4 and 2x3 with 3 progressing from the groups of 4 and 1 progressing from the group of 3. The groups were seeded to try to get competitive games. Not sure then why expanding to 16 they didn't stick with the exact same structure but make the 2 weaker groups teams of 4. So Tonga, Samoa, Fiji, England, France, Aus, NZ, PNG in the strong groups, top 3 progress. Everyone else in the weaker groups, 2 winners progress. Winner of group plays winner of weaker groups , 2nd play 3rd of other groups .. simples

Presuming this is in the wrong thread as the train strike won't affect this game?
-
Up north we use a thing with four wheels that has a little engine inside. You have to put an expensive liquid inside but even so its a reasonable alternative to the train. Infact one of the tournament sponsors Cazoo can help you get one of these.

Sat 22 Oct: RLWC: England v France KO 5pm

Went a few scores up and then lost discipline. Got reminded of the game plan at half time and played better. Showed that the players left out last week are not good enough for international footy. -
Which country has the most potential?
yipyee replied to JM2010's topic in The General Rugby League Forum
Africa in general would be fantastic at RL and watching the commonwealth 7s showed what athletes Uganda and Kenya have. The best way to grow internationally would be to create a smaller version of the game and become a commonwealth and Olympic sport. USA also have a fantastic union sevens team with some quality athletes . We are not going to grow by having heritage sides but what heritage sides do is provide meaningful opposition to the current tier one country's. Wales and France are the big ones though. Its upto SL to help grow this. NZ also could do with a second NRL club. NRL seem to be helping PNG along. -

Suppose they had to do something to try and talk up a one sided contest.
