  1. Errrrrrrr...kitchen designer/installer then ?
  2. Yep RU bores me too.......and couldn't fathom out why the Sale Sharks were playing in front of what looked a packed A J Bell stadium last week and Salford RL only manage 2000 ish.....therefore guess I'm much in the wrong re my Union view???? (by the way I only saw the sharks clip in passing with TV remote...didn't really watch any of it).
  3. Can't see the Raiders surviving much longer...sad as it is Wales isn't the place to stage Rugby League...at any level....I think back to Town academy, coached then by Glen Burgess, having to travel to play at Cardiff.....finding the school venue was by far the hardest task of that day...things will not/have not improve(d), and RL needs to give in to welsh apathy in my view.
  4. Yep it gives us a chance to mingle with the big guns...in case, like me, you've had difficulty in obtaining the relevant info re the 'draw' we face Doncaster at home should we dispose of West Bowling next Sunday....honest it was so difficult to track the draw down, not having twitter etc....on here we had an Hurrah and Good draw...both of which had me tearing my hair out. Incidentally I was amused at the Maryport Plumbers sarky comment re West Wales Raiders having an estimated attendance of 50 for their match yesterday. Not only a sad reflection on the magic of the RL Challenge cup but a scary scenario for the RL future in the Welsh outpost. Like Kev, or someone else, said it's evidence that Town need to get to hell out of this Division One quicksand as soon as possible.
  5. Which is a fine shirt in my view.......can I though add that in the shirt 'write up' you say Town won the RL cup 6 years after formation in 1952.....but why forget that Workington Town were the Rugby League CHAMPIONS after just 5 years....beating Warrington at Maine Rd Manchester in a thrilling 1951 final....sorry to moan RW...not.
  6. It says Furness Park Prestige Stand.......with what appears to be loads of seats lying in all but the correct direction...not nice.
  7. RIP Frank......he was my first ever Town hero during my schoolboy days, feared by all visiting teams at Derwent Park. I still recall being devastated on hearing Frank had signed for Hull KR.
  8. 1...Cheer when our hooker wins a scrum 'against the head' 2..Write a 3 in the match programme against the try scorers name. 3...Keep a keen lookout at the start of the second half for the youngster selling the 'half time score' edition of the local paper. 4..Go to the farthest pick up point from home to ensure a seat on the 'match day special' bus service.
  9. Oh right....so have Town not won at Haven since then ? Perhaps I'll just go and check my very comprehensive files and get back to you.............................or not.
  10. 21/10/1950.....Whitehaven 10 v Town 17....Attendance at the Recre - 14, 564.....(.wow! ...probably a big 'Town Army').. Town team ; J.Cavanagh, Lawrenson, Paskins, Gibson, Graham, Thomas, A.Pepperell, Wareing, McKeating, D.Cavanagh, Thurlow, B.Wilson, Ivison. Town scorers: Tries- Graham 2, Thomas..... Goals - Lawrenson 4.
  11. What !!!!! ?.... I'm certain I've read on previous posts on this forum that when the Comets folded they still owed their Workington Town RL hosts a tidy sum ?...and therefore probably still do given that they no longer exist ???
  12. The much renowned 'Godfather' of our club (yes our club David) was very much against players personally dealing in contracts...he reckoned it would eventually damage the game financially.......is he being proved correct considering the wages dished out now ?
  13. There's only one Craig Barker........hey, could be a good fans song that....altogether now.....'there's only one Craig Barker'....(a top Townie)..
  14. And think he brought in the memorable Leatherbarrow ???
  15. Do you stand alone on the 'popular end' Sandy....or are there a bunch of you ????? Oh, and yes, young Marwood is much too slight for a winger at present.
  16. You only became a Townie then?....ya laal puppy.....
  17. Yes almost shouting it from the rooftops...there were a couple of Town directors at his shoulder too.
  18. That's just so true...but Paul put his heart and soul into it and made things improve....great guy, really a 100% Townie...
  19. Think Mr. Jamieson had a friend (???) within the club who was encouraging the changes......thankfully it all faded away.
  20. I recall being at Deepdale for Lancashire Lynx v Town when Jamieson was telling all he had just bought Workington Town..he ended in tears during that...so strange...sort of bizarre.. Another downer that day was someone sat way behind me kept pelting my bald heed with sweets..buggas.....maybe it was Mr J ???
  21. They were missing last night at Skolars............can't believe what I saw at the end of that match. It was 30-30 and Skolars had drop goal attempts charged down...from one of them Hunslet broke away from nr their own line...it finished 30-34.....Hunslet winning try was from a deffo forward pass, the touchie stood back to indicate forward pass...then Hunslet players berated him so he then moved into dead ball area to give try....never seen that happen before...suppose nothing can be done either.???...........just seen on Skolars sight that seemingly the Ref had called pass ok and overruled touchie...oh well hard luck then Skolars.
  22. Just seen on an Aussie sight that ex Town star of the 1950's Tony Paskins has passed away at the age of 91. Tony played in two of Towns cup finals ( v Featherstone 1952, and Barrow 1955) during the 1950's and was rated a top centre by all who saw him play. RIP Tony.....
