The post which said "You can’t have automatic P&R and have minimum standards." and to which you replied "Yes you can"?

Yes you can. Achieve the potential promotion on the pitch and promotion is confirmed denied by achieving the standards. Realistically these should be confirmed prior to the commencement of the season.
So, not automatic promotion then? You're only promoted if you reach the minimum standards. If you don't meet them, you're not promoted. In other words, not automatic.

Plus also something as simple as a 10% Super League member discount, to be sold through the clubs (who can police whether somebody is a member, rather than "discount codes" going viral online). Rugby Union internationals are in large part pre-sold through clubs (at all levels of the game), who retain some of the ticket price as an incentive. The rest are sold on the open market to Joe Public, but it's a twin-track 'go to market' strategy. We've done that occassionally, and still do in some instances, but never strategically in a sustained way.
It's a thing that Peter Deakin did really well at the height of Bradford Bulls success in the late 90s and it's also the way the London RU clubs market their big event games. I reckon it would be particularly useful for Wembley just because travel costs from the North are so much higher than actual match tickets. If you want a bunch of northern amateur clubs to take their kids teams to an England match on coaches, give them an incentive to do it.

Indeed. It’s striking when you pick a fixture - say England v New Zealand - and note that in RU pretty much whole decades could go by without a meeting. And then from the mid 80s it steps up and now it’s multiple times a year.
It's almost like air travel became routine and affordable at some point in the last 40 or so years, isn't it? Whereas in RL, we played internationals more often when teams had to travel on ocean liners.

Where T.F. is BARLA? Do they even exist anymore?
This is BARLA's national youth cup for under-14s.

Play at Dewsbury? Or groundshare with Huddersfield at The Shay
?
Is there no scope to do anything with West Bowling/ Bradford PA FC's ground at Horsfall?

Widnes West Bank. Just kick them out of the league. Or at least suspend them for the rest of the season and ban the people responsible
Seems a bit harsh to ban a whole team because some of the opposition team's fans booed one of their players while taking a kick?
Hard to tell what happened in the second clip, but it looks like some Myton parents went over the barrier onto the pitch and the home team parents ran over in response. Good to see both sets of players walking away from it.
It's a National Cup semi-final BTW, so I'd expect a serious response to parents' behaviour.

Statement from the Prime Minister (who has also written him a letter).
“Billy Boston is a true trailblazer who has contributed hugely to rugby league. It is a historic wrong that a sport which is the backbone of so many communities has waited so long to receive this honour. Boston is a legend of the game who overcame prejudice to represent Great Britain and opened the door to a more diverse game. He’s left a truly enduring legacy and the first knighthood in rugby league could not go to a more deserving player."

Maybe I've misunderstood (not unusual) but I thought the issue was that Wood could NOT be Chairman of the Strategic Review Committee for 12 months because of possible conflict of interest.
I think (not that I am paying a huge amount of attention to it anymore) that he can be chief panjandrum of whatever sub-committee he likes. He just can't be chair of the RFL.
Also this is still an 'interim' board, yet to be ratified by the RFL council.

Our group approach was to nab Headingley and Everton tickets as soon as possible (phew) but wait and see the maximum size group for Wembley. The size of the ground and the huge length of time before the game allows us to make sure we have the biggest possible group of people going to the match. I would be astonished if there weren’t thousands of people in the same boat.
Exactly the same here. Although I am getting a bit fed up of nagging some people for an answer and might just buy a couple extra knowing that we can probably rope someone in on the day.

I'm assuming that we shouldn't read anything into one of the non-execs being a rugger chap who does lots of work on companies in administration...

Looks like the governance problem has been resolved by naming a fairly sensible looking board, but with big Nige named as Senior Executive Director rather than Chair. He is the chair of the Strategic Review Committee too.

there is no indication that we sold 50.000 tickets...
Over 30 000 tickets sold for Wembley was the statement from RFL Commercial on May 2nd. I'd imagine some have been sold in the last 5-6 weeks, but I'm sure if it was over 40K we'd have heard about it...
Lower tier holds 34k, middle tier is 16.5k. Probably makes sense to open up more of the upper tier at this point.

But, having gone down this bargain basement route, the RFL should absolutely stick with it.
Tend to agree. The only 'problem' that it really causes is that you get some empty sections of seating in the lower tier for the main event.

Speedway would give their right arm to get a crowd of 63k. The next CC Final could be played at Huddersfield and sell 100% of the tickets. It wouldn't mean it was moving things forward.
Yes, speedway is a sport where 1000 is a good crowd, so selling out a stadium with 4-6K capacity (depending on how many temporary stands they have) isn't exactly a model to aspire to, particularly when they had five figure crowds at the millennium stadium in Cardiff for the last 20+ years for the grand prix.

The architectural trail across the Med of the Knights Templar is phenomenal.
There's a not too badly preserved Knights Templar chapel quite close to me. Quite an interesting organisation - Europe's biggest bank/ travel agents/ first multinational corporation, that also had a standing army and a religious purpose. They were exempt from local laws and taxes. You can see why popes and kings weren't too keen on them.

Johnny Vaughan's program also did a fair bit about Magic Weekend, last month - they called it rugby league's Glastonbury...

It was the best final atmosphere wise that I’ve been at for quite a few years.
I thought so too - and particular credit to the Warrington fans for that. If we can get the England crowd to bring the same approach in October...

It wasn't till I got out of the stadium did I realise just how much rain had come down, the roads and pathways where flooded.
Both teams did well to keep the error count as low as they did given the conditions
And yet we have people moaning about the performance of the halfbacks and the lack of attacking flair. Sneyd's conversion from the touchline coincided with the worst of it - just a brilliant kick.

I remember going to the fev v widnes final and to see the invicibles in 82 when i was in my early teens - those experiences etched the very fabric of the game in to my blood that still flows with passion this very day
I've been racking my brain trying to think when Fev ever played Widnes in a final and drawn a blank.

USA Perpignan in the relegation playoff position at end of Top 14 league phase. If they go down, it could be a big boost to Catalan’s attendances.
IIRC, they have been relegated twice in the past decade, and pretty much no effect on Catalans attendances.

It’s funny that you said that because I was saying yesterday that I thought there were more than usual. Saw absolutely loads - Fax, Keighley, Widnes, Egremont, Hunslet, Cas, Barrow, Elmbridge Eagles, Leeds, Bradford and lots more. I didn’t see any Wigan and Saints though.
Saw plenty of Wigan and Saints jerseys, both in the ground, and around London.
People behind us were from Dewsbury, people to next to them were Union fans from the south west. People to the right were a bloke from Castleford meeting up with his son who lived in London, plus a bunch of his son's mates who hadn't been before. People in front were from Wigan. There were St. Helens fans in front of them. Most people don't turn up wearing jerseys. At least a third of the crowd each year is neutrals, probably higher than that.
