    Pathetic from top to bottom.

    Jy-Mel has been sacked now.

I daren't ask if they have a replacement lined up.

Additional day to get sorted as the next,coach-less opposition,Widnes Vikings, host Bradford tomorrow night.

Rugby League in England. No other sport like it.

Personally I have no interest in the stand. I want a competitive team on the pitch then the rest will follow. A new stand isn't any good when were in the division below with 400 fans in the ground

You were confident on 23rd May and started a ' Good Things Happening ' thread - This after reading the Fans Forum Q & A.

    Has something changed?

  3. I am still waiting for our In The Know,Indigogo,to confirm the demolition of the old stand, after 9 of the remaining 10 games, and confirmation that planning permission has been granted for the new stand.

  4. I think consideration should be given to the fact that at this time of the season many players are effectively signed up with other clubs for next years campaign, and that ' extra one per cent ' is often missing;despite some reminding me about being 'professional'.

Continuity, familiarity and confidence also has a huge bearing.

I rarely predict,or attempt to predict,at the best of times. This isn't the best of times.

Another training night. Will there be another announcement?

  5. With news of Nathan Roebuck having now left, it is certainly a change to the squad at the just- past-halfway stage of the season.

Looking at the squad in December,I don't suppose those having paid for their season cards would have expected such an exodus of experienced and relatively successful players at this point of the campaign.

If some clubs have now spent their season ticket money and are making cutbacks it doesn't augur well for 2024 for Championship & League 1 clubs, nor the future of the sport;especially with regard to future season ticket sales.

Well that was a bad day to say the least.

The only positives to take from yesterday are "its only 2 points and a least it didn.t rain"

The coaches and players are going to have to work very hard this week to turn that performance around in time fo be competitive for the York game.

Let's hope it was just a blip!

A blip? Since the change of head coach it is 5 defeats and one victory;that victory being at home against a side facing 3 games in 7 days.

It includes allowing Jack Miller his one and only victory in a Championship game in 2023.

With 10 games left, and your undiminished enthusiasm, you should predict,on the other thread, which games will,or can be,won,of the remaining fixtures.

I don't think Browny is a Canes fan so your stupid comment won't bother him.

Also Mark Dunning would appear to be having a very positive effect on Midlands though judging by today's performance against division leaders Dewsbury. Will be looking forward to his side facing Keighley next year.

    Oh,I didn't think it stupid.Silly me.

It was nice of Browny,a follower of an elite club,to show an interest in the plebs.

I thought I would steer him away from the suggestion that Daryl Powell has unfinished business at Keighley.

    I musta failed...

I do wish Messrs Squires, and Dunning, well. Both of whom were on friendly terms with Rhys Lovegrove.

  8. This boils my proverbial.Particularly with it centering on Leeds where the soccer club discovered a hole in the heart on a player they wished to sign in the early 1970's,and then the sudden death of the 15 yrs old son of former Leeds soccer player,Terry Yorath, which made people aware of CRY ( Cardiac Risk in the Young) which at the time suggested a check worth the value of 50p could be conducted to give warning.

I checked the CRY website,on reading the OP,and it seems an ECG may miss a hole in the heart while discovering other abnormalities, however a check by a doctor with a stethoscope does the job.

The Super League clubs and Championship clubs only get a mention on the CRY website - https://www.c-r-y.org.uk/screening/cardiac-screening-in-sport/

Keighley Cougars and the rest of the sporting world should be grateful to Dr Lawrance - https://www.thetelegraphandargus.co.uk/sport/18176797.keighley-player-jordan-aitchison-needs-op-heart-condition/

It seems player welfare is NOT the highest on the agenda....and I don't know if Dr Lawrance is still with Keighley Cougars. I saw his name associated with York Ladies, recently.

Just in case you are not aware it was the, undetected, hole in the heart that led to the stroke.

Best wishes obviously,to Zane Tetevano, his family, and loved ones many miles away.Bit of a scare for all involved.Well done the medics and hospital staff.

It's cutting the wage bill, simple as that really. Owners realised there's no prospect of promotion with our current stand and off the field set up. They've openly said our wage bill was the second highest in the league.

Santi, Crooks, Chizzy, Gale, Lovegrove all gone from the wage bill.

We've brough in young Luca Atkinson, Jake Sweeting and Junior S'au and a load of loans. Still no full time coach. I don't know peoples wages but I bet there's over 100k in savings there.

I am worried other high earners who have come in and done a good job (Ioane, Doyle, Walker, Sid, Robson) and other good players such as Storey, Young, Graham will all follow suit and leave the club in the near future. Hopefully we can keep them for this season and re evaluate but I expect the turn over of players to continue at some point.

I don't think they expected it this season, but they certainly expected to be up in the play offs and build next season from there. Everything is at the club needs improvement though so spending big on players is futile until thats sorted.

We have a new stand being built after this season. We've applied for a reserves and woman's team. So they are positive steps. Theres other areas to improve as well but it'll be gradual I'm sure.

There was silly me,thinking that the start of the domino effect, the dismissal of the head coach, was based on results.

Long before IMG,there was an American who allegedly said - It is easier to fool people than to convince them that they have been fooled.

They may need a PR expert in before the squad for next year gets announced.

It seems certain to be wholly different from the one that started this campaign.

  10. I don't quite understand the message it sends out to potential future players,or potential head coaches.

Bearing in mind the uncertainty of which League they will be playing in next season, the recruitment is going to be extremely difficult.

I just wonder what is going to happen,next...

  11. Why didn't Category A Super League club Leeds pick this up in a medical before they signed him?

Way back in the 1970's a hole in the heart was discovered by professional Leeds United and it stopped a transfer of Asa Hartford at a time long before a broadcast deal meant obscene amounts of money went into professional soccer.

It was Keighley Cougars who had Dr Richard Lawrance, the Welsh rugby league doctor, who completed Heart tests on players who had warmed up and not just on players before they had warmed up.

Kudos to Dr Lawrance, last seen being a doctor for York Ladies side.

I am surprised by the first sentence shown in the quote.

Only Luke Gale arrived after Henderson left - so it would appear the owners were satisfied with the squad, such as it was, paying out that money with over half the squad kept from League 1 days.Plus, the apparent offer of a salary increase to Miller;but he left anyway.

Gale left, then the others have followed in quick succession so I'm guessing if that financial arrangement,as stated, meant monies held back till the end of the season, which caused the initial problems, should be available as those who have left won't be entitled to it.

If the wage bill was the second highest in the league have they all left just to finish higher on the league ladder,or as Championship winners, but taking a wage cut halfway through the season?  Is that plausible?

Perhaps the too good to refuse offer by York, and the not so bad offer by Featherstone are good lessons that spending cash for the important part of the season is the way ahead. It's also the time when results matter...

More wheels falling off at Keighley. Another mercenary out the door 😂

The second sentence ain't necessarily so.Chisholm went to Keighley after he was frozen out at Featherstone. He arrived at Keighley while they were in League 1. He was a former school friend of the then head coach. He could very well have accepted lower financial terms to continue playing,or as a favour to a friend.

From a rugby league perspective, with the financial outlay, and the paying public,I do think the sport should have proper medicals with regard to transfers; just as they do at all levels of soccer, certainly the top two leagues.Especially with more and more injuries and the merry - go - round of over 30 yrs olds.

I don't think players should be considered mercenaries if they sign in good faith and then the club wants them out.

I hope the frequent changes in personnel have the required result.

Winning the home games being crucial with some really challenging away games.

Swinton, away, on the 6th August standing out.

  15. I wanted to go onto Facebook where certain individuals seem to accuse the non - happy clappers as being keyboard warriors; but declined.

Two facts - Yesterday was the first of 3 games in 7 days for Whitehaven. They now have 2 home games.Wednesday night v York.Sunday v Featherstone.

Keeping their high energy levels for the difficult home games may be the priority;especially with supporters paying money to keep the club going outside of simply attending games and purchasing the usual.

Secondly, the last Cougars win was away at Whitehaven. Then followed 5 defeats.

It is hoped, for the loyal supporter(s),that this is not repeated.

Whoever,on Facebook, referred to 'fancy dan' players leaving the club - if he meant the ex-Super League players, then I reckon all will finish higher in the league ladder than Keighley, and Rhys Lovegrove also appears to be enjoying his time at London.

Second half of the season now and many players will have their futures planned with other clubs.

The future of the club,on and off the field,at Keighley, is certainly uncertain.

I still can't understand the 'culture' comment made by the co-owner.

    As ever,interesting times ahead...

Not only that the club have announced two new signings this morning. Can afford to sign two new players but not pay for an operation for one of their star players (who they should have had insured!). Shocking stuff but indicative of the way that club is being run at the moment.

One player was announced as signed, this morning.

So I see. But that's not what I asked.

Let me put it more plainly. Is this money being raised to pay a bill the club should be paying?

As stated my earlier post,in the local press it is reported that the operation may not be required.

The Go Fund has been set up by the father of his friend.A former head coach at Doncaster. The intended beneficiary is the injured player.

I remember Jon Wilkin being the chairman of 1eagu3 and being vocal about the need. He seemed to quickly lose interest.

Gareth Carvell was the latest former player to head the union.

    https://www.examinerlive.co.uk/sport/rugby-league/garreth-carvell-rugby-players-union-23327999

With regard to Lewis Young, according to the club owner, the local paper states that an operation may not be necessary.

A specialist is to be seen and the ankle may require rehabilitation.

There is also an insurance policy to be implemented.

I believe the former Doncaster coach,Miller, made a disparaging comment about the former head coach at Keighley just after his son left to go to Newcastle Thunder.

I don't think Ellery Hanley would conduct himself in such a manner.

  18. Have they explained which way they are going?

I don't think I will be proved wrong if the last one to leave,Crooks, also finishes higher up the on field positions.

Will Santi,at York, also finish higher?  I reckon Rhys at London will.

The financial outlay for the revolving door system at Keighley will be higher.

    At the moment a 13 v 12,at a training session, isn't possible.Despite the Championship game at Batley.

To pay for more players for Reserves and Ladies means more cost going outside of the club.Very few seem to want to stay at Keighley.

The ETP is no more.It was for that reason more coaches arrived.

I firmly believe in the Team Work Index by Darwin.

There is a short video in this link - http://www.gainline.biz/

We saw what loans/dual reg did to Bradford, at Cougar Park.

    https://www.afr.com/companies/sport/darwins-theory-of-sporting-evolution-20170323-gv4yuj

More modern stuff is out there.

We have noticed the results since the change of head coach and removal of the team manager.

Is there anybody left with the required sporting nous to pick up the pieces?

What will attract players and coaches to the club from outside the area?

  19. It may be a bit optimistic pinning hopes on a 36 yrs old who has spent the last few years playing the other code in the USA, and a few games in League 1.

A bit frustrating assisting Championship rivals in getting their squad players match fit for their play-off campaign, and future.

This would seem to be the way ahead for the club, though.

  20. Well,that is a hotchpotch of signings.

I am still shocked from yesterday when a club that IMG will assess as Category A can sign a player and not know about a hole in the heart.

Most sports - interested people knew about the subject back in 1971

    https://www.worldsoccer.com/world-soccer-latest/asa-hartford-356133

I do wish the sport of rugby league,a physically demanding sport, gave a bit more dedication to checking players before they signed them.

Young players on differing loan periods won't make it easy - and a 36 yrs old.

    Interesting relegation battle ahead.

Interesting, also, that both Santi and Crooks, have gone to their respective new clubs until the end of this season, only.

I wonder if they are to get together with Mr Lovegrove for 2024.

    Interesting months ahead..

  21. Some coaches don't like stats being given out in case they assist the opposition.

The sport of soccer has more pundits on TV & radio talking tactics, every man, woman and child, feel empowered about the sport.

I would like the stats so I can see if they tally with what my eyes tell me,and as a discussion point with fellow fans.

It would help newbies glean a bit more understanding of the sport as they attempt to understand the rules:before they change again.

The sport doesn't care about the fans.It won't happen.

    Most secretive sport still surviving.
