Pontefract, Knottingley and Ackworth, come on ! Ponte and Knottingley have far more Cas fans. Why not really scrape the barrel and add Purston and Wraggby. Fev never has and never will have a bigger fan base than those four clubs you mentioned. But like you say, no harm in dreaming
That's true now. I'm a Ponte lad, only one Cas fan at Carleton High in the 80s and he was a lad that had been kicked out of Freeston High in Normy.

Ageing like a kipper behind a radiator.
This is all so desperately depressing. I've been obsessed with this club since I was about 5. Can't remember a lower feeling than this.
-
BTW, it gets worse. Not been paying players pension contributions, fans ordering merch 5 months ago still waiting and we apparently owe transfer money to another club (I'd guess Warrington for Longstaff, who played 2 games
)

This situation is plainly down to the club gambling on promotion the last couple of years and spending money that it couldn't afford. Fev arent the first and won't be the last in doing this.
While all the time telling us fans that it's all been covered by squadbuilder and "record" commercial revenue.
TBH I'm absolutely fuming. Hoping the bloke that takes over from MC has a bit better business brain. (and also gets rid of Vickers ASAP).

Confusing statement saying everyone was paid on time but yet some players are still owed money. From a PR point of view Campbell leaving could be one of the best things that happens to Fev but from a financial point of view you have to feel like this could be a disaster for them.
I'd assume the chap from Millennium Care who joined the BoD a couple of years ago will take over. From what I can gather, he's not short of a bob or two.

Statement from Mark Campbell. Looks like he's stepping down.

We can always rely on some amateurish off field issue to tarnish a feelgood factor, like beating Wakey. It does feel like we're run by numpties at times.

In what way? From a money prespective Sheffield should do quite well out of it shouldnt they. Wigan had to be one of the plum ties for a championship team.
I doub't they will get a crowd big enough to cover costs. Are Catalans a team that are going to interest people? At the moment reading views of other fans on FB I would say not. Me personally as pretty much a die hard fan for the last 40 years I'm feeling pretty meh over it. I want to watch games with a good atmosphere and Catalans are a team I don't see any rivalry with so its just a game that I really don't "get". I would rather have played someone like Fev just so it has that big game feel.
We're always your cup final Oxy

Halifax draw the shortest of straws. Leigh v Fev should be fun.
At Fev it might have been a cracker. At their place, can't see anything other than a shellacking.

I suppose Leigh would do, I think Fev owe them a defeat, and what better time with Leigh's injury list.
Leigh would fetch a few, probably more than our noisy neighbours and I do like the look of your injury list
. Personally, I'd like Catalan away. Need an excuse to get away from the cold and damp.

Featherstone. First game 1973 cup final (as a foetus), first game I remember 1981.

Do you think that young Bowes is not good enough to play there on a permanent basis. ?
He's a hooker really isn't he? Definitely got potential, but I'm not sure he's suitable for the task right now.

As someone on the main forum pointed out, this would be the first strike in history demanding worse working conditions.

Be the ultimate irony if you won it this year with much reduced resources, but it's far from impossible, especially if your lucks in.
That would be a typically Fev thing to do, now that auto promotion isn't available.

How ironic that would be should it happen David.
Is my mind playing tricks but didn't you once say that if promotion through on the field endeavours was no longer available to your team that you would be turning your back on the game?
For my curiosity, could you please say in your opinion what is the feeling in and about town that your team no matter how well Fev perform this coming season you will not be promoted. Taking it to the ultimate, if you happened to play your near neighbour's in the GF and you were victorious but they got 'elevated' to SL - in that circumstance I will not use the word promoted, how would you expect that to be viewed locally?
I probably have thought that at points Harry. I do broadly support the grading system though, as long as it's done transparently. Something needed to be done to arrest the decline of RL, I'm willing to give it a few years before passing judgement. I think we all know that 15th "best" club is about the right place for us.
Can't speak for the town (I'm a Ponte lad anyway), but the lads I stand with all know deep down that we're not a Super League club and aren't likely to be unless one of us wins the Euromillions. MC has done some good things at Fev, but he's not mega wealthy and some of his decisions have been baffling to say the least.
Certainly among my group, we're looking forward to a few seasons under the radar. Supporting Fev has felt like a chore for the last few years. Some games where the result is in doubt and some underdog wins will be nice. A season similar to 2019 will be very enjoyable.

League table in the OP looks about right.
It would be a typically Fev thing to do to go and win the play offs this year, now that promotion isn't available.

If we get short of numbers this year Pontefract RUFC have a promising young lad playing centre this winter who we might want to keep an eye on. Name of Tim Spears. Yes, it's the same one (his family have been involved there for years I believe).
Aye, his dad (Mick) has been on the committee for years. Took over as treasurer when my old man packed it in.

I reckon Shane Warne could have had what it takes to play RL, tough, quick thinker etc. Played AFL as a kid so would have some of the skills already.
