    They weren’t at all.

The game announced they’d have time allocated for an anti discrimination message. Nobody was instructed that they must take the knee or that they would be labelled as a racist if they didn’t (many didn’t and haven’t been labelled as such but let’s not let the truth spoil the rage).

    Bit of selective amnesia there.

There was huge pressure on players of all sports to take the knee. Many who bravely refused were vilified on social media and in the mainstream press.

The thing is, in 2022 in some countries people who are gay don’t have basic human rights. 32 countries on the planet allow gay marriage. It’s 2022 and that’s what, 22-25% of the planet? In many countries, gay people don’t have the basic human rights so many others are allowed and I struggle to support the Manly players for reasons posted here about the makeup of Manly’s existing sponsors based on religious grounds, where teachings are typically to show respect and understanding to others.

All of that is true and should be campaigned against.  You're going after the wrong target in 7 Manly players who for their own perfect valid reasons (even if I disagree with them, and I do) do no want to participate.

Not convinced by the arguments around alcohol sponsorship. Didn't Jesus magic some booze from somewhere? Are those Belgian monks that make ale sinners? And I honestly don't know enough about the issue of gambling and religion to comment.

Why would anyone want to post a of video of them vaping in a shitter?

    I just don't get it.

Our friendship group has a tradition of taking a picture of a bride on her wedding day sat on the bog in full wedding attire.

However, that's probably a bit specialist even for the internet. Luckily my wife's only exists on film.

I find it ironic that the next post after this one literally said "I'm not in favour of trans rights" and you gave it a like.

He was expressing a view that he is entitled to. I like on the basis that he had the courage to stand up and share it in the knowledge that the correct thinkers would be along to shoot him down.

I'm torn on the issue myself, although I'm struggling to see what "rights" trans people are lacking in this country.

Which is part of the reason events like Pride and LGBTQ community events exist, to bring attention to such issues across the planet where basic human rights aren’t met because of their feelings.

Being unable to want basic human rights for everybody doesn’t seem very religious-y to me.

Have you ever been on a Pride march?

They are 80% straight people virtue signaling and having a day on the ale, 19% Gay people celebrating their community and 1% brain impaired revolutionaries that think being anything other than trans means you're sub-human.

Me and my daughter hated it, we'll never go on another.

At no point did Loiner ever suggest that LGBT people should not have the same human rights as everyone else.

I'm not religious at all, in fact I struggle to believe that anyone is.  However, billions of people around the world are and their views must be respected.

Where did I say they shouldn't have basic human rights? What about the human rights of the players who don't want to wear the shirt.

This is the problem with debates about issues like this. You made a perfectly reasonable point but instead of getting a reasonable response, it was insinuated that you didn't think LGBT people should have the same human rights as everyone else.

Good for them, I think people in general are sick to the back teeth of have lgbtq+ constantly rammed down our throats (No pun intended). I've no problem with people living there lives how they want to but don't subject me to it.

    Exactly.  Live and let live.

I don't even know why anyone in western democracies protests about LGBT rights anymore. There are no impediments on the lives of LGBT people. They are absolutely equal and rightly so. It's a total non-issue to 99.9% of people. And the 0.01% are the kind of folk that would moan about anything.

I don't think anyone on this thread has said otherwise

To me, it's about the hypocrisy. They are perfectly happy to run out in a jersey with a betting company as main sponsor - and industry which ruins a large number of lives every year.

But a jersey which supports a community of people who cause no harm to anyone is suddenly 'against their religion'

Either take a proper stand on the bible - or don't. But don't cherry pick when it suits.

    Fair point

Is it depressing? They're standing up for their personal religious beliefs. They are perfectly entitled to do so. I'm an atheist, but I respect other's beliefs.

I'm also the proud father of a gay daughter.  I wouldn't wear a pride shirt either (and neither would she).

It's a pathetic "look at me and what a nice person I am" thing that straight people have jumped on.

This is true and why I hate the format. I still have Leigh as massive favourites, and I'm even 100% sure at this stage that they'll be playing Fev either, for the same reason. Fev are only a bit better than the challengers and one stupid red card and/or a couple of injuries before and on the day might be enough for them to lose the semi-final.

The final is more likely to be Leigh v 'fax or Batley.

Fev are not as good as either of them.

This league must be absolutely terrible if Fev can be in 2nd place. Especially considering today Fev only had 15 fit players for about an hour, after Riley Jacks and Jack Bussey both went off injured. Fev have been absolutely terrible this season. I'm sat shaking my head.

We were lucky today that York are in even worse form than we are.  80 minutes of absolute dross.

  12. Jones

    Hall

    Davies

Terrible team performance all round. Picked Jones because we actually had a 10 minute spell of playing rugby that he was the instigator of.  Hall tackled like a man possessed and Davies just did Davies stuff.  The rest were complete garbage.

Hasn't the transfer window closed and hence even if there is an announcement it's not likely to be a signing for this season.

I think as long as the paperwork was filed before the deadline, it's OK.
