The problem I have is that not even the programmers are claiming that the VAR system is 100% accurate. There is margin of error.

Football really should have swallowed its pride and gone along with the Umpire's Call that cricket has.

Or perhaps a degree of common sense when using VAR?

It's not to go anywhere, it's to keep possession and stop the opposition from having the ball and potentially hurting you, soccer snobs may believe it's the greatest thing to happen to the game and think it's the right or only way to play, but to me, it's defensive and negative.

It's what I've been sayin' all along Clive.

I don’t know how much they cost but boy Everton have wasted hundreds of millions.Just a snapshot is Bolasie 25m , Davy Klaasen 24m , Tosun 27m , Walcott 20m , Siggurdson 45m , Scheiderlin ... Kean ... 20 odd mil etc . Richarlison 40 odd but at least gives some return . Now after zero progress they’re gonna need to do it again , and will take a big hit on the overvalued deadwood they need to shift . Mosh has thrown about 500 mil in already

This is a club that didn't go after Sean Dyche when they last had a chance. Yeah but he can only coach a certain way.

My Dad. Sadly left us this morning aged 74, after suffering a stroke yesterday evening.

He wasn't really an RL fan, being a proud Welshman he loved his Rugby Union, plus football, having been brought up as a Wrexham fan. I did get him to a handful of games over the years, including a couple of visits to The Racecourse, both to watch Wales, and Fev v NW Crusaders a few years back.

He lived most of his life in Ponte, having moved there shortly after I was born, given my mum was a Cas lass and had family locally. Weirdly, especially given I became a Fev fan rather than following Cas like my mum's family, he'd actually seen Fev at Wembley 10 years before I was born, due to a friendship in his student days with a Barrow fan. Strange how these things sometimes happen.

So sorry to hear about that Gazza. Best wishes to you and your family.

For those interested in romantic underdog stories of Cup giantkillings there’s the possibility of a big one in Germany tonight on BT.

Saarbrucken, who play in a regional Liga below Bundesliga 3, have a semi final against top flight Bayer Leverkusen in the German Cup (DFB Pokal).

It will be Saarbrucken’s first game in 3 months and they’ve had an incredible run already, dumping out Bundesliga sides Fortuna Düsseldorf and Cologne in previous rounds.

Sorry to cramp Saarbrucken's style, but aren't Cologne in Bundesliga 2?

    I just noticed they aren't, they're in League 3.
